 Spike Lee At the end of Light My Candle Roger says "I hear Spike Lee shooting down the street". What does that mean?

I think he's telling her that 'Spike Lee' is shooting heroine and drugs and stuff, and for her to go do it over with him, instead of in his (Roger's) house. Could be wrong, though.

im pretty sure spike lee is a director and he is shooting a film down the street... maybe has a double meaning though? ....

ROGER: Maybe it's not the moon at all. I hear Spike Lee's shooting down the street.
Spike Lee = film director (also was even considering at one point to make the film version of RENT). Roger means, that maybe it's not the moonlight, maybe it's lighting from Spike Lee's film set down the street.
Are people serious when they ask such ignorant questions?

I laughed too at even the thought that the Spike Lee reference was to shooting drugs.
But then, I guess some people aren't familiar with who Spike Lee is....
...I just don't even know lol.
*side note of also amusing* My friend just told me that someone, having a serious conversation about Rent, said "I thought the person who played Mark in the OBC was so much better then the guy who played Mark in the film..."
