(its not a soundtrack Lena its a cast recording. LOL)
I love the novel but despise the music and the musical itself.

I agree that My Fair Lady is a love story because the Roman myth of Pygmalion and Galatea that Pygmalion is based off of, is a love story. I studied this myth in school and the similarities between the myth and My Fair Lady are easy to see and follow the same pattern.

Just because the source material is a love story doesn't mean the story itself is one...
ESPECIALLY if you read about the creation of the play, "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw.
You researched one aspect, dear...but you need to do more research on how it was created and developed as a play and Shaw's take on it, as well as how it was adapted to musical form.

I can't believe i forgot about this thread. It's so interesting to see everyone's opinions, especially differing ones. Anyways, I really like the comment that someone made about Higgins seeing himself in Eliza, his creation and such. Never thought about that.

Another thought, as I read this thread through again...It is NOT a dominance thing at the end if Eliza goes back to Higgins. The fight at his mother's house shows that they are clearly equals.
When Higgins tells Eliza to fetch his slippers, she doesn't move to get them...

^EXACTLY!
He knows full well that he can no longer dominate her...that's why the fight between them is such an important piece of the puzzle.
I wish you could have seen the production I did of this, salome...I think you would have been pleased!
