Post Any help?
Hey, here is what's up. A local theatre is going to be doing 'The Secret Garden'. The girl that they want to play Mary is 17 but she looks a little bit younger. They want to cast older.

So, I am a baritone, 5'9, and 16 years old. I look older, maybe around 18. What part should I go for? If they are casting older, should I go for Dickon? Or maybe Colin? Any help would be appreciated.

Dickon is likely too high for you as he's a tenor, and um...Colin is more of a soprano. It's tricky as the best baritone part is probably Dr. Neville, but he's older, and Archibald could also be played by a baritone (with a strong/well mixed falsetto) but is also old.

:?

Sorry I couldn't bring you better news. However, if you have a strong upper range I would shoot for Dickon. I can sing Dickons main two songs (Winter's on the Wing and Wick) well (or so I'm told), and I concider myself a high baritone. If you have a strong upper range (to the point where you can sing tenor parts) you should be able to manage.

Dickon is just right for your age though, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I would suggest going for Dicken. Colin is supposed to be 10 and should be a small sickly 10. But Dicken could easily. Also in the future I would suggest putting more about your question in the subject line, more people are likely to look if they know something about what your question is about.

If you are a Baritone, Dickon will be way too high for you. And if Dickon is too high for you, forget about Collin. Of course if you are 16, I have never heard you sing--but I have a hard time believing you couldnt hit some of those notes. I can hit all of them with ease, but I am a Tenor 1, and have been since I was your age. I am 23, and I am going to go for Dickon, in a Production of Secret Garden this summer.

you can always go for mary's father(who is a ghost). He is in the chorous but he has an exciptonal part. He plays a large role in the show's plot :)

I was in the chorus of this show, or rather a "dreamer." The chorus work for this show is a blast. I had the best chorus experience in this show.

Also, Mary's Father is more of a Tenor...he has some pretty high stuff...not to say that you couldn't do it...
