Post Modern Pippin
My High School this year is putting on Pippin for our annual musical. We are trying to put a modern twist on it by updating it (example making Fastrada more of a "Paris Hilton" type). My friend and I watched the movie today and got a better idea of the characters and what their costumes should be, the only one that truly stumped us was Catherine(who I am playing). If anyone has any helpful ideas on Costumes, Sets or anything at all it would be gratefully apprechiated.

Thanks!

The Leading Player would be more like a pimp maybe....pinstripes....^_^

Pippin maybe would have an average...maybe even a gothy or punkish outfit becasue he's sort of like a kid tryin to find his place in the world... something like that....

Hope I helped somewhat. ^__^

I absolutly love the pimp idea! I'll pitch it to our director and see if she'll let it fly!

Pippin being an outcast works too... but our "players" are going to be goth emo punk blah blah blah and we can't a have him blend in.

Any ides for Catherine? At this rate I'll be going on in just tights! haha

Thanks for the ideas<3

You could make Catherine sort of Desperate Housewives-esque. You know, Satin Floral Kimono, maribou slippers, etc. It would then make the whole "Ordinary Kind of Woman" part of her character very tongue-in-cheek.

Ohh! I love the house wife idea but our director is trying to go with a accent colors so i'd be wearing a black dress with white accents (scarves, and a flower) still very "plain jane." But the whole "desperate house-wife" idea sounds great!

and yeah, we're gonna put on some army clothes on but have swords instead of guns (makes no sense... i know) so we can have a very jazzy sword fight with fun faces and all.

lol, i know from my descriptions above it sounds terrible but it shouldn't be!... or at least I hope :? but i'll be sure to post some pictures up right after the show which will be in 2 weeks... yikes!

<3thanks guys

Yea...

I'm in a production of it now and It's kinda modernized...

Like in the scene with the monks we're all wearing big hoodies and have some blinage and what not...and in the war scenes are armour is gonna be like made of soda cans...and the whole show is basically in an alley...Berthe just lives in the burbs and well yea...It's really modernized...

I hate our Leading Players...there are to of them. The way the director has is they basically cut everysingle line in half....most of the time..they rarely ever have lines to them selfs...I think its ok sometimes but they overuse it...And they both suck Its a boy and a girl and they don't get into it at all! The guy is ok and has the voice for it but the girl's voice is so annoying...its all in her nose and she sings really low and everyones like OMG YOU SING SO LOW and I'm like...uhh its not that hard...I can sing way lower....and UGH...

I hate them so much....they just don't play the part
