ok in the book Wicked it is clearly, Elphaba as teh lead ,as Galinda is not in the book that much. Boq has an equal size part as Galinda in the book. I have to say though that in the musical version, I believe they were tyring to equal the roles of Galinda and Elphaba and really bring out the plot of their friendship to center, or why would they end the show with for good (yes teh finale ends the show but you get what i mean). The only reason Kristen CVhenoweth was nominated for lead actress for a tony is because she was billed ABOVE the title. if she was billed under the title she woulda been considered a supporting role, which it should be.And I would consider the narrator in joseph techniclaly a leading part. However, unless it is a big name actress, the part is billed under the title while Joseph is above.

Some kid I have gym with wore a shirt today that imitated those gym shirts that say "Property of So-and-So Athletic Dept." This kid's shirt said "Property of Shiz Athletic Dept,". Pretty cool.

Well, they are still characters in that they aren't real people. They just exist in a different plane of existence to the other characters.

Point taken. But beause of this "different plane", they're kind of outside the show itself.

I disagree. They're still a part of the show. They aren't real; they're constructed as part of what you're seeing on stage. They might stand outside of what one could call "the story they are telling", but thay aren't any more real or any less fictional than the characters in "the story they are telling" and can thus be considered as leading characters.

you're cool...not. if you don't like it why post in a thread clearly labeled WICKED. Anyways i recently saw this show in chicago with the touring cast. it was the second time i saw them and Stephanie J. Block wasn't as good as she was when i first saw her. she had really bad breath support and on her final note in Defying Gravity she kind of died and there was an akward pause where the pit orchestra kept playing but nobody was singing. in reality iit only lasted a few seconds but everybody in th theater heard her just die on that note. it kind of brought the show down for me.

I think that it's mainly Elphaba's story, though glinda is a HUGE part of it...
Most of the main points of the show are showing that she really isn't evil just misunderstood

Hey guys. I've got a radom question for anyone who can answer it. Was "Wicked" playing in New York in 2003? Was it playing anywhere in 2003? I've been trying to look it up, but I'm clearly not putting the right combination of words into google to get me the information I want. All I'm getting are sites that are trying to seel me tickets to shows.
Reaon for me asking; I was discussing "Wicked" with someone I know, and based on a lot of what I've read hear, it's not the world's greatest or most sophisticated show, and I said as much. Keep in mind I have never seen the show, I was basing my opinion on what I had read here (bad idea). Unfortunatly that painted me into a nice little corner, which led to me saying "Of course I've seen it, I saw it while I was in New York." But now I'm not even sure it was playing the same time I was in New York. I know, I'm a horrible person. But if you guys could answer that question, I would really appreciate it.
