OT: I'm curious about your opinion of Rush Limbaugh's latest
Dear Musicals.Net Posters,
So, I heard that Rush Limbaugh's latest radio SNAFU had to do with the issue of insured birth control. Apparently, he said something to the effect that America should have the right to watch, on video, a woman's private business, if she was going to force the insurance companies to make her private business American business by forcing them to insure her birth control.
I realize that ole' Rush spoke harshly, but I myself actually happen to agree with the general gist of his sentiment. I don't believe that the American system/ taxpayers' system should take responsibility for anybody's personal sex life; anyway, if a woman is going to scream "It's MY body!", then she shouldn't expect the government to pay for her personal sex life. Besides, the argument FOR the insured birth control doesn't even take into consideration the fact that it takes TWO people to create a baby during sex. That's right; the aforementioned argument is sexist against men.
I believe that when the women who want to claim that "it's a WOMAN'S body!" wish to squawk, they should avoid involving men in whatever happens to their bodies. In other words, I believe that if a woman becomes pregnant via a sperm bank, she has a right to squawk about her right to make unilateral decisions about her body. Whenever sex between two people occurs (Sex, not rape), the woman who was involved has the obligation to take her male partner into consideration, because even though HER body is carrying a fetus, it wouldn't even be there without the participation of a man.
I believe that if America DOES decide to insure birth control, they are sending the message that irresponsibility is cool (What would people say if cigarettes were insured, on the assumption that nobody had to be responsible for the health of their own bodies? How many people would support THAT decision, and then be willing to offer support when everybody got lung cancer...of their own volition?), and that if America is to go that far, then she should at least insure all male forms of birth control, too, including condoms! That would at least constitute equality, which is what America keeps claiming to represent.
I mean to say that if birth control was paid for by insurance companies, then that decision would benefit not ONLY married adults, but irresponsible people (I'm gonna assume that the insurance companies would NOT insure minors) who just wanted their, um, personal "adventures" financed by the insurance companies.
I'm also not certain that it's such a good idea for insurance companies to be financing birth control, because sooo many birth control methods prevent pregnancy so well that they cause adverse side-effects. When a woman uses a potentially harmful form of birth control, and she has heard about the risks of using such a method of birth control, she should not be covered by an insurance company, because that would be too much like a chain smoker (who knows about the risk of cancer) being covered for cigarettes.

Well, anyway, I'm curious to know weather or not you agree with Rush Limbagh's opinion, and why.
Thank you in advance for your replies, and please, let's keep the conversation clean and free of dirty language.
