Well, at least me and Rumblepurr are still here! It's nice that it's so quiet. Old home for me and I like it that way.

Got some authentic pics posted up at my Facebook page, not that anyone cares really. Just wanted to share my collection a bit. And also brag a bit too! :-) My new mannequin is awesome for posing my costumes on. Love her really.

Got pics of Victoria, Tantomile, Etcetera, Cassandra, and Bombalurina up there. \:D/

Going to see CATS again in Folsom, CA. Should be a blast! Can't wait until April.

Will be popping in more often then.

Purrs,
VTWC

I think this Forum, the last of the line stretching back into the 1990s, has finally yielded to time. Its full-time members have moved on, no longer entranced by a stable show, such as was offered by Winter Garden, or a US Tour that played September/October to June/July in major cities and venues. I noticed a lot of those names have become lurkers mostly. Some have faded as the fandom passed to the 'Younger Generation.' This year, California was very fortunate in that we had San Jose, San Diego, Costa Mesa, and later Folsome Lake and Chico. Elsewhere, the Tour skipped a lot of territory. Why they had such a late start, have some major holes in their itinerary, and have a short season was not made apparent... at least, I never found out. The fact that the solid itinerary was not out until nearly the FIRST SHOW in DECEMBER was pretty bad in my opinion. Thank the Theatre Gods for TicketMaster and other such ticket sellers, or my itinerary would have been pointless.

@VTWC? I do not have a FB account, and am not really sure I want one after hearing a lot of negativity on it. Maybe like a lot of things, I'm old school. I'm probably doing good to be on this... However, you know I like pictures... I would look them over...

If you give use the name of the page, we can look it up. Just sayin'.

Anywho, I was a lurker for a while before making an account. I always check in. The entire website seems a little dead. Except for the Wicked and Les Miz boards.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the tour come to SoCal every year? It seems like it comes to OC every other year. Do you happen to know the cycle? You seem to know a lot about the Troika tour.

I know, but it's still SoCal.

Two venues are normal for the US Tour to visit in the entire State of California - usually one in North/Central and one in SoCAL. Five was super... However, a lot of places did not even get ONE stop. Arizona/NM, Oregon/Washington - in fact, most the WEST was left without. The EAST and MIDWEST got most of the stops, as did across Canada. If the season had started in October instead of December, more stops could have been added. Perhaps Phoenix/Tuscon, Portland/Vancouver (WA), Reno, Amarillo, Denver area... etc. I not sure if another stop in the Salt Lake area would have been good or not... Any major city would have possibilities...

If areas are untouched each year, the fandom loses interest, IMHO, or they have to be willing to travel.

We are getting a stop up here in the Pac Northwest in Seattle in April after Folsom.

I agree, that the musicals.net boards are dying if not already dead. I just looked into the Phantom and Lion King forums, the posts are so old. I don't think anyone posts there for Phantom anymore. People pop in once or twice a month. I certainly don't want the forums to close but I think their time has run as well. More and more people communicate on Facebook and other social media sites, as the feedback is instantaneous. You can post something at The Phantom of the Opera's wall and thousands of people who follow will see it instantly and can respond. It makes discussion harder but faster. Most of the American politicians have FB pages and all the forum talk is on them, hundreds of posts by people caring and talking about the issues. Forums now are just for posting pics and doing reviews, especially about the musicals. I do almost everything on Facebook now and I don't even bother to run a website anymore as I have full control over what can be shown and posted and updated instantly.

Rumblepurr, most "elders" don't like FB. My father for one, HATES IT! He also is always worried about me posting stuff on there like photos of my vacations and stuff. Like I can't even leave the house and show it! LOL! He's afraid that some stalker would come after me! I wish that he would come on there more so I can communicate, but he likes to use the phone. And I love hearing his voice. But sending pictures the "old fashioned way," by mail of my vacation to him is so slow. He just can't handle the new tech side of things, including smartphones. I hardly email anyone anymore either, I just use FB because it's easier and faster to text to people.

My husband also can't stand FB and he got off it too. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I like being able to store all my favorite things on my page and wall. Cptn. Wazoo I'll PM you.

Yes, and I agree about the Tour schedule being terrible this year. The West was left out. CATS was in Portland about 2 years ago in March, when I went up to see it before I moved. That's when I first met Jason Wise. That was wonderful. But they do need to add more shows/venues next year, if the Tour is still going out. Of course, when it closes I'm going to travel to wherever it's going to end it's run, (probably Baltimore as the HQ and Costume Shop are there). But hopefully, that's way in the future. And if they were going to do a closing run year, they would heavily market it, I think and have more venues. We shall see, I guess.

Purrs,
VTWC

Doesn't really help that the musical boards haven't been updated in a while. I mean, really? Tarzan the Musical? Why do we need to discuss that? And, yeah, Facebook is okay for me to keep in touch with people I don't see anymore, but even then I don't really need to keep in touch with them (old classmates, for example). Can't say I'm overly concerned about what's happening in their lives every single day. I was actually discussing that with a friend a while back. Doesn't it sort of take the surprise out of life if you run into someone you haven't seen in years, yet know everything about them because of Facebook? Kind of creepy, honestly.
But I digress. I've "liked" pages on some shows, but if there are thousands of people who also like that page, you tend to get buried in all of the comments on a post. You can't really have a discussion.

Well, hey. There's still the CCDB for us Cats fans. But I'm personally not a huge fan of that site. The mods are too controlling over there. You can't post anything even slightly negative because "oh dats ofensuv"..... :| I mean, I understand completely that you don't want flame wars, but I should have a right to disagree with someone or not like something. Right? /rant
There's also Broadway World, but that's only for recent news and what not.

Just had a random thought: do you think if the show was ever revived on Broadway, Troika would continue touring or would we get a new tour? Hmmm.

I know the 4th national tour was going on during the Broadway run. I'm only on Facebook once a week and I don't even know how to use it right.
