Re: Not family friendly enough
Just because it might not be family-friendly doesn't mean children won't benefit from being exposed to such a top-notch piece of theatre.

I mean, depending on how parents are with their children, they might already be being exposed to much worse on television already, without the benefit of fantastic songs or storytelling.
A show like
Oklahoma! can be turned into a learning experience and a discussion piece with families
as much as it makes me retch to type that. Having children see these less savoury bits of the show and ask questions about them proactively is far more valuable than taking a ten-year-old to
Mulan Jr. with the knowledge that they willl be safely anaesthetized for an hour and a half.
Theatre was always meant to be a provocative and stimulating experience, and if parents can properly educate their children, something like
Oklahoma! may actually be a beneficial thing rather than a potentially non-family-friendly one.
I guess what I mean to say is that if I had children, I wouldn't take them to anything that I wouldn't go to normally. So
Seussical is out, and
Oklahoma! is in.

But I guess it depends on ones' priorities...
