 Mistletoe?
I'm doing tech for a production of RENT and a lot of cast members are voicing their disapointment that for a show that takes place during Christmas (for a large part of the show, anyway), there is no mention in the score of mistletoe. My opinion is that it doesn't seem to be a requirement, but at the same time I think it would be a nice touch since there's so many romantic couples in the show. What do you guys think?

Huh. Wow. I've never actually thought about it.. In a way, I actually think it's better that there is no mention of mistletoe because of the show's approach to "nontraditional" love.

 Re: Mistletoe?
It'd be ironic for a symbol of forced love to appear in a show where love is all about choice and commitment, wouldn't it?

 Re: Mistletoe?
Still, it's Christmas; you'd think that in all the songs the homeless people sing in which they knock priceless Christmas icons like Santa Claus and Rudolph the red-nose reindeer, mention of mistletoe would have crept in somewhere.

 Re: Mistletoe?
Perhaps you're right. Afterall, it does rhyme with "snow".

 Re: Mistletoe?
The words "no mistletoe" scan to lines like "no candy canes" and "no safety net," too. I'd laugh if we discovered that mistletoe references were discarded in older Larson drafts.
