And Diana's all right, but definitely not Emmy worthy, right now. You can barely hear her sometimes. Her breath support is atrocious.
You can say the same thing about Marilyn Monroe, and look how popular she is.

^^Literally though. And I'm not entirely sure why Mercedes and Rachel are vying for Maria, as it's not the best role in the show. Anita wins awards, not Maria. C'mon Lea. Shouldn't her character know this? Or even acknowledge it?
But still, every girl in high school wants THE LEAD. Leslie Kritzer dropped out of her high school production of West Side Story cause she got Anita, not Maria.
Have any of the girls in Glee club demonstrated a soprano?

Not necessarily. When my HS did Beauty and the Beast, one of my best friends was easily Belle material and would only settle for Mrs Potts.

I think Rachel and Mercedes have. Rachel has belted to a A5 on the show (Halo) and Mercedes has belted to a High C (6) a few times, specifically on Jump. And she does it easily so I'm sure she can sing higher

Well I've heard them both sing very high without belting so I think they're capable. They're both very good vocalists IMO

And this is how it sounds:
.
This has got to be one of the more bizarre renderings of a showtune in Glee. I can't imagine a context that would make this credible. It sounds stuck somewhere between reality and fantasy. Why are all the character names Glee-centric except Effie? Sounds like it might be right up there with "Make 'Em Laugh" on the Glee list of 'fails'.

Mercedes does have powerful vocals. She deserves to have the spotlight more.

Re: Glee
It's All Over is a hot mess which is sad because it's easily one of my favorite songs in Dreamgirls and when done right, it's insanely fierce. It should be interesting to see this in context.
