 Song for "The Producers"
for the purposes of this show, I'm a baritone. The parts that fit me are Max or Franz.
I'm thinking "Mushnik & Son". Thoughts?

 Re: Song for "The Producers"
On going over the OBCR last night, I've changed my mind. While I think Mushnik & Son is a perfect song from outside the show, the audition notice was one of those "A song from the show or bring music".
Trouble picking a song? Do all of them! I think I'm going to do "Betrayed" from right after the false-flashback ("My past's a dying ember...") to the end with the big finish. It's a little longish (~2 minutes) but they didn't specify a length.
It's a little gimmicky, but no question, it's hard stuff and very entertaining. Pulling it off successfully would be quite impressive, I think.

 Re: Song for "The Producers"
Well, after working it in my spare time for about 3 days, I've pretty much got it nailed. Audition's tonight. Got to just go balls-out on this song and sell the hell out of it, and then let my voice go BWAAAAAAAAAP at the end. I'm pretty excited.
Lord, I want that money! I'm back, Max Come on Leo, we can do it! Step one: find the play. See it, smell it, touch it, kiss it. Hello, Mister Liebkind. Guten Tag Hop Hop Guten Tag Clop Clop Adolf Elizabeth Hitler? Guten Tag Hop Hop Guten Tag Clop Clop
That was the sticky run right there... pretty much, in one breath. Once I had that part, it was golden.

 Re: Song for "The Producers"
In retrospect, not the best choice for this setup. I was prepared and it's a fun song, but I envisioned being on stage, next to an accompanist on the piano, with the MD or director observing.
Instead, it was with the MD trying to play from the score without a lot of practice, in a darkish pit area with a keyboard that was fairly quiet. He was straining to see the score and keep up to me, making any effort at blocking my song pointless, and it was hard to follow.
So I muddled through as best I could, then belted the end and moved on. At least my reads went very well. Frankly, I've got Into The Woods going up three weeks prior to this, so I really can't give the time needed for Max, but I think I've got a solid shot at Franz, which would be just okee-dokey with me.
