:O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Scott! 200 something pages of Elisabeth... I must be in heaven!!! I'm not shure where to begin! So, hi! I'm Nachtthyme and I'm an avid phan of all things Phantom and Elisabeth. Uwe Kröger and Pia Douwes are my favorite (I know this is kind of stereotypical), but I also like Mate and Jesper Tyden as der Tod. I heard Thomas Borchert was once der Tod too, and he's great, but I've only heard him sing der Letzte Tanz so I can't really judge his preformance.

Re: Elisabeth
I've gotten a copy of the 1996 Vienna complete live recording. I must say, I think Maya Harkvoort was better then. She seems to less concerned with note singing and acts better instead. Her young Elisabeth is certainly better on that recording. Can't say any of the other cast really stand out.

Yeah, I think Maya used to be better earlier than at the time of the Vienna revival. Her Elisabeth felt truer, with more emotion and fire in her acting, and her voice also flowed more naturally though was perhaps less big. I really like early Maya, but have mixed feelings about her later.
The rest of the 1996 cast is rather meh, yes. I've never even been able to listen to that recording in full.

Re: Elisabeth
Can anyone tell what language this is? (The title is Russian.) I'm confused because my host sister says it is not Japanese but it looks like a Takarazuka production

Completely off topic...Is that a Maskerade avatar? If so, you're awesome.
Then my awesomeness level just went down a couple notches, 'cause I honestly have no idea. I just found the avatar somewhere on the internet and liked it.

I found two clips, curious and tender, are Maike Boerdam and Jesper Tyden, rehearsing and performing "Der Schleier Fällt" but with sign language. It's great that are made performances of this kind, so that everyone can be part of the experience of Elisabeth
I've watched those clips so many times before (mostly because there are so few clips of Jesper and Maike out there and they're one of my favorite teamings) and I agree, it's great that there are signed performances out there so that more people can enjoy Elisabeth.
And to go along with what some people were saying earlier, I liked Maya when she was younger too. Her acting in Schwartzer Prinz was particularly adorable.

Hi naactthyme! It's great so see you here. I have no audio, so I can't deco[her the clip yet Katie, but If it is indeed Russian, I should be able to recognize it...
Maya WAS cute as Sisi when she was younger. Stil I love her 2nd act Sisi from the DVD...

I agree with you, in 98 Maya represented a sweet and naive Sissi (Schwartzer Prinz), but in 2005 having grown up, marrying and having a baby, prepare her to represent a more mature and experienced Sissi I feel moved when she sings Totenklage, it seems that her has indeed lost her son and suffers for it. Every time I compare her with another actress, not transmitted the emotion of loss with the same intensity as she does in that particular song.
And bringing something new, I bring some video spam. A video of Uwe Kröger with Nicole Sieger singing Der Schleier Fällt.
How sweet is Uwe as Der Tod, do not know why but in this video he reminds me to Maté.
And some old pictures of Elisabeth 92 Pia and Uwe on the way to rehearsals Elisabeth the cast without Uwe and Der Tod's outfits, included cowboy jacket hahaha

Re: Elisabeth
I'll watch the video later... I'm dead tired after visiting the city of Elisabeth for a week (and heard several rumors that Elisabeth is indeed going to return to Vienna in 2012, probably in the Raimund Theater. Which means I have to get back there . Not a bad thing, because I think my heart is still there). Can I just share my gladness about another kind of black-box show of Elisabeth I saw last night? 5 actors (Jan Amman as der Tod, Ethan Freeman as Lucheni, Sascha Kurth as Rudolf, Patrick Stanke as Franz Joseph and Kristin Hölck as Elisabeth) performing songs from the show, embedded in the real historical story, with only a piano and no sets. And it was beautifull! I hope so much that there will be material on youtube that isn't going to be removed immediately so I can share it here... (I have hope for Jans Letzte Tanz and Ethans Kitch, because they were encores)

Re: Elisabeth
Hey, I found a Stuttgart Die Schatten on Yooutube:
Olegg Vynnyk, and adorably blonde Rudolf (Martin Pasching), and some kick-ass electric guitar XD (Olegg looks incredibly badass leaning against that pillar XD)
Oh, and I don't know if this is old news or not on here, but there's a Japanse Mozart!
Seriously, those Japanese theatre people have a serious hard-on for Kuntze/Levay XD
Oh! I found that Mein Engel clip from the Essen production with that really yummy der Tod, Johan Samuelsson XD
Remember? XD

Hey! Is that Christian A. Müller as Franz Joseph?? I love his voice... especially when he sings the Phantom!
As for the new tour... still no news, but I've been at the theater they're going to play in Essen today, and the poster is already hanging there!! It made me squee (and the friend I was with too... "Elisabeth is really coming here!!!!")

Re: Elisabeth
I was in Bremen a couple of weeks ago, and the tourist info already had brochures for when the tour will stop in Bremen next year! Took a few with me, obviously. Annemieke looks so lovely as Elisabeth. Oliver looks weird as Death, I think, he's more a Rudolf type... Haven't got an idea of how he acts the part, though.

Re: Elisabeth
Oliver was... well, not that special, I thought. He was a pretty weak Tod. That could have something to do with him not speaking Dutch (he played in in Antwerp, so he had to sing in Dutch), but I heard the same thing from a friend who saw him in Germany. But there are rumours that he's not going to play in this tour. I'm still curious about who is (and I have my preferences of course ). I hope we'll find out soon! (Couldn't get close to the theater to see if they already had brochures... there was something going on there... haven't got a clue what, but it seemed pretty big)
