Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knew which version of the J&H script is the David Hasselhoff version?

Cheers

The crappy waterdowned Broadway version is what I call on a what maybe a great musical.

I have almost bought it three times and then put it back on the shelf. I really like the Anthony Marlow concept album and enjoyed seeing it on stage with Paul Nicholas a few years ago (although he was too old for the lead) ... but The Hoff? I wish there was a decent version of this underrated musical on DVD.

A friend gave it to me for Christmas a year or two back, along with Into the Woods.

...I haven't opened it.

You guys really should watch it some time. If you go into it knowing what it is you might find it pretty amusing. And as said before, it really is a great instruction manual on everything NOT to do when performing a musical.

You're really tempting me to buy this just for the hell of it. After all, it can't be worse than Cliff Richard's 'Heathcliff' ... can it?!

To my knowledge, there isn't a licensable (sp?) version of the Broadway script (aka, the hasselhoff version). The script that is held by MTI is based more on the concept recording, plus whatever was in the second national tour. The problem with the script is that the show is so incredibly song heavy that there is hardly any stand alone dialogue. When I did the show at school, we did the Hoff version just because we had better actors than singers, and we wanted to have all the dialogue from the Broadway version.

I actually watched the Hasslehoff version to acquaint myself with the show when I first learned about it, and auditions. I didn't know about Ron Evan, Warlow, etc.

It really is unintentionally hilarious. It's sad, because he actually kind of has some talent, but he goes about the characters all wrong.

I resolved to do exactly the opposite of what he was doing, and it worked our wonderfully.
