 The Minstrel's Lute This may be a rather random question, but in your production, what did you use for the Minstrel's lute? Did he actually play it or just carry it around the whole show?

Re: The Minstrel's Lute Same here, when I was the Minstrel we did not have a lute. There are some clips on youtube of productions having the Minstrel strum and some just holding it.

Re: The Minstrel's Lute Our Minstrel had the lute on a strap on his back the whole time, except during the break- it was our conductor's personal lute, and he wasn't the most responsible actor ever- and we had him pluck out a few melodies occasionally and Fred hit a few strings in Song of Love.
I think it could work either way, but the lute really sets the Minstrel apart from other characters, I think.
