Looking back at this thread, I realized I actually got to play one of my Sondheim dream roles (Cinderella)...so I'm going to replace that with April in Company, although I would still love to play Cinderella again.

Anne in A Little Night Music- hands down, my number one dream role. Johanna in Sweeney Todd comes a close second, and Philia in Forum was up there too, but I was fortunate enough to make that one a reality I really have a thing for Sondheim's ingenues... There's something really intruiging about something that seems to have no substance, but MUST (and they must... it's Sondheim.)

Amy/April-Company
Mrs. Lovett/Ensemble-Sweeney Todd
I also love Assassins, but I don't think any role really suits me!

John Wilkes Booth - Assassins.
Okay, so I'm a girl, but I can dream, right? Right?
I'd also love to play Desiree in ALNM.

I've already played the Witch, and hope to do so again... so I'll go with Fosca in Passion.

 Re: Dream Sondheim Role?
Todd. That actually gets to me, since I was one of two called back for Todd a few months ago, but the other guy called back for Turpin totally punted his callback, which forced me into the role.
I mean, the directors absolutely did the right thing. The other guy, who got Todd is very good and did a great job with it, and the Anthony (where he'd have ended up otherwise) we got was far better in his role than the other guy called back for Turpin.
But still. Heh. Well, it'll come around again.
Also would really like a crack at The Baker, got a shot at that in a few months.

 Re: Dream Sondheim Role?
Todd, I've decided, is more of a pipe dream and nothing more. So my big ones: Near future? (high school productions, age appropriate, etc.) Toby (Sweeney Todd) Adulthood Bobby (Company) When I'm Way Older Benjamin Stone (Follies) Lifelong? Pseudolus (Forum) The Baker (Into the Woods)

 Re: Dream Sondheim Role?
Johanna- Sweeney Todd Baker's Wife/ Little Red(But I have more of a Cinderella range)- Into the Woods Maria- West Side Story Remember your first dream role. You found the role and thought "I MUST do this"???? Baker's Wife Well, that was before I became a high soprano....*sigh* I'd still be SOOOOOOO happy with Cinderlla.

 Re: Dream Sondheim Role?
Henrik - ALMN Jack - ItW Boatman - SitP Hinkley - Assassins Toby (a very common choice it seems) - Sweeny Todd Shakespeare (when I get to be about 40) - The Frogs Hysterium (when I'm even older than that) - Forum
My dream role out of all of these would probably be Jack at the moment, if for no other reason than that my university is producing Into the Woods in the fall.
