Was the Chess concert auto tuned?
I'm talking about the one filmed the had Josh Groban and Adam Pascal.
I've listened to it quite a few times and it really does sound like it's been tuned. Mostly Pascal and Idina Menzel. Listen to "Florence Quits" with headphones on and you'll hear what I mean. It shows up a few times during the concert. Also, what's with Menzel's pronunciation in "I Know Him So Well" all about?

I've heard that it was...I don't know anything for sure, but I agree. I thought the same thing when I listened to it - ESPECIALLY Idina Menzel.

I saw it live, and I do not think they auto-tuned anybody. If that were the case they should have auto-tuned Josh Groban's grossly off-pitching during Anthem, and other moments in the concert where the actors were out of tune.

Re: Was the Chess concert auto tuned?
People often confuse EQ for auto-tuning these days. EQ just gives it a more homogeneous sound; EQ stems from "equalization," meaning it sort of takes the rough edges out of the voice completely. An ocean with no waves is not necessarily auto-tuned. That said, I do hear the hallmarks of Melodyne used on certain principals.

Re: Was the Chess concert auto tuned?
Don't worry...I know the difference between eq and auto tune. I record various students studying Musical Theatre now and then in my spare time and often have to use auto tune. That's how I picked out the sound in the first place.
