 The ANYTHING GOES Poll
76 years ago this month, Anything Goes appeared on Broadway for the first time. With the anniversary of its opening night - November 21 - drawing near, how about a poll to celebrate the fact? Enjoy!
1. What do you like about Anything Goes? Or, if you're not a fan, what makes it unmemorable for you?
2. Pick your favourite song in Anything Goes and tell us why it's your favourite?
3. Cole Porter is famous for his lyrics. What is your favourite lyric in Anything Goes?
4. Got a number you just can't stand? Tell us why.
5. Which version of Anything Goes do you like best?
6. What are your feelings about Anything Goes on film?
7. Which is your favourite cast recording of Anything Goes?
8. Who is your favorite character in Anything Goes?
9. Who is your favourite Anything Goes-related performer?
10. How do you feel about the forthcoming 2011 Broadway revival of the show?

 Re: The ANYTHING GOES Poll
1. What do you like about Anything Goes? Or, if you're not a fan, what makes it unmemorable for you? the porter score, the classy witty script
2. Pick your favourite song in Anything Goes and tell us why it's your favourite? Gypsy in Me. its very clever and worsk both for hope in the original and Lord Evelyn in the 1987 revival.
3. Cole Porter is famous for his lyrics. What is your favourite lyric in Anything Goes?
"so worth the yearning for so swell to keep every homefire burning for. we'd be so grand at the game so carefree together that it does seem a shame that you can't see your future with me for you'd be oh, so easy to love."
4. Got a number you just can't stand? Tell us why. nothing from the original score. but even Cole Himself wasnt fond of the rather trite 'Lets Step Out" which adds nothing to the 1962 revival.
5. Which version of Anything Goes do you like best? 1987 revival
6. What are your feelings about Anything Goes on film? I liked having Merman in the 1936 film but its a shame they cut all but 4 of Porter's songs.
7. Which is your favourite cast recording of Anything Goes? 1936 london or 1987 Broadway revival
8. Who is your favorite character in Anything Goes? Lord Evelyn
9. Who is your favourite Anything Goes-related performer? William Gaxton
10. How do you feel about the forthcoming 2011 Broadway revival of the show? its not neeeded with other Portr shows like DuBarry Was a Lady,Silk Stocking, and Out of this World NEVER having had a revival yet!

 Re: The ANYTHING GOES Poll
Agreed on the last one, Dawn. It is way too soon for another Anything Goes revival.
One lyric from the show that I really like is in "You're the Top."
"You're a rose, You're Inferno's Dante! You're the nose On the great Durante!"
