All this is why HBO should do a mini-series or they should make a movie of just the book. A non-musical movie would cost less money to produce, generally less painful to watch, doable by good film actors, and would still attract the same amount of box-office profit. (Plus, then they would get me to go. I wouldn't see a Wicked movie musical.)

Whatever they decide, it'll probably still worth watching either way.

They don't have to be capable of performing 8 shows a week, just turning up to a few studio recording sessions then acting it out in front of cameras. They can do anything with people's voices nowadays. Not that I wouldn't like someone genuinely talented to play the part though.

 Re: Wicked The Movie. 2010
Why not film the movie in 3D instead of doing a conversion? I think that might be great.

I just don't like the idea at all for the 3D movie of Wicked. I also don't like the idea of Ryan Murphy directing and Lea Michele as Elphaba.

 Re: Wicked The Movie. 2010
Well my opinion is that if we should have a movie, it should be either written and played from scratch as a movie, or rather musical movie (like for example Lion King) or be filmed stage show (prepheringble with real audience.) Cause movies thats just movie versions off the musicals tends to be very bleak copyes off the magic delivered on stage.

 Re: Wicked The Movie. 2010
It's the over-rated phase that the film industry is in right now. 3D this 3D that. Makes me sick LOL Here's the bottom line for me. Whoever does this film needs to understand the stylistic structure of the piece. If they center everything on that (the plot, settings, costuming, shot choice, music, etc.) I think they will create a memorable movie. One thing I really think needs to be re-evaluated is the continuity of the the movie with the original 1940 WOO classic.

 Re: Wicked The Movie. 2010
Maybe it could be an idea to do both Wizard of Oz and Wicked in a sequence and focus the earlier to fit within the Wicked universe? And to have the same actors etc, when needed.
