Post Eddie Fagrante: 50's-style Up-Beat Baritone Song
Hi, I'm auditioning for the role of Eddie Flagrante. I need suggestions for songs that would relate to this character. He is a sleezy, wild reporter who will do anything for a story. He has an intense and asply speaking voice. His song "That's the Beat for Me" is a Sinatra-esque cabaret style song. "Expose" is an almost latin-style song with operatic vocals. He is a baritone, as well am I. Preferably the song should have a 50's feel to it, but the main focus is just an up-beat male vocalist who isn't afraid to scream some of his lyrics when hegets excited.

Here is a YouTube link to the song "That's the Beat for Me" off of the official album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K59s0Qw6 ... re=related

Here is "Expose": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu_rmGtH ... re=related

My director originally suggested "Mack the Knife" by Bobby Darin, but this song just isn't up-beat enough, it doesn't showcase Eddie's character enough for an audition.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

-Cory

Hey, I'm auditioning for Zombie Prom very soon as well! Hahah, maybe it's the same place. But I digress.

I'd suggest looking at Little Shop of Horrors and Hairspray (though I don't know if there's a good baritone song there). They're both in the 60s, but 50s musicals are kind of limited. There's Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, West Side Story, and The Pajama Game ... I can't think of anymore set in the 50s. But I'd start looking through those six musicals and see if there are any good baritone songs.

All I Care About from Chicago might be a good one for the sleazy Sinatra feel, though it's probably overdone...
