women in the barbershop quartet

 women in the barbershop quartet I did the Music Man and I was Olin Britt in the Quartet. We had another guy play Oliver Hicks but we had 2 women playing the higher parts. They did a great job but I wished the director had looked for 2 other men for the high tenor parts. It wasn't the same when you had 2 women in the quartet and took away the feeling of not using an all male quartet. Has anybodyelse use women in the quartet? This is another example of gender changing I can't stand. If you can't find men, pick a show with a predominately female cast.

We had an all-guys male barbershop quartet, but I agree with you 100%.

Our Jacey Squires was female...she was a very low alto. Say what you will, but the four of them sounded great together and got fantastic reviews. Many people asked our director if they were a professional Barbershop Quartet.
Fun fact. All of our Quartet's names began with the letter S...Steve, Stephen, Sam, and Sue!
