I'm going to Stratfords this year. I cannot pass up a Tm Rice/Andrew lloyd Webber show. This will bne the second time I've seen EVITA. I cannot wait! It'll also be fun to talk about Peronism, Eva, Che and everything else that was going on at the time.

By the way, whatever happened to Isabel Peron? Last thing I heard, she was arrested in 2007.

Well, I can't find anything about what happened to her after her arrest in Spain from 2007. However, I assume she is still in Spain. An appeal for extradition to Argentina was denied in 2008.

I will be coming back to Stratford this year. I was there last year and saw The Scottish Play, Midsummer Night's Dream and West Side Story. It was awesomt to see WSS live (However, theye didn't play the Overture. And it was listed in the program).

This year it's Evita, Peter Pan, As You Like It (hopefully they will use the score that Barenaked Ladies wrote a few years back).

Stratford is an amazing town. I want to live there, someday.

Is Des McAnnuff directing a show this year? Loved his direction for The Scottish Play (OK, what's it's other nickname?)

I personally enjoyed bits of Mackers, but I think its sum wasn't as good as its parts. I liked the African setting, it added dimension to the play and didn't seem tacked on. The casting seemed pretty uneven at times; for instance, Yanna McIntosh was a great Lady M, but I really thought Colm Feore was curiously miscast in the title role. And I adore Colm Feore. But the special effects were incredible. I was seriously scared for the actors' safety on more than one occasion.

I think McAnuff might have troubles with Shakespeare at times. Sometimes his vision is vivid in his plays, but other times it seems muddled. His Romeo And Juliet the year before last was confusing as hell. I still don't know why they didn't change back to modern dress after the masque scene.

At any rate, his direction of the Classics isn't anywhere near as brilliant as they are for the musicals he's done so far. Maybe it's because he's only done tragedies and his forte appears to be comedy (the Porter was hilarious in Mackers). Maybe if he does one of the comedies or romances he'll fare better.

He's directing As You Like It and The Tempest this year. I hope I'm right.

I would lave to see him do Shrew or Much Ado. He could have real fun with that...but really, Colm was miscast as Mac? He's like the greatest actor onstage at Stratford? How could he flub The Scottish Play?
