 Considering "Wicked" is a prequel to the Wizard of how is it that the Wizard even exists in the "Wizard Of Oz" if Glinda gave him an indefinate leave?

It's been a while since I've seen this show, but I'll try to answer:
For the most part, 'Wicked' acts as an unofficial prequel of sorts to the events of the 1939 film adaptation of the book. However, the second act is actually concurrent with the film's events (death of the Witch of the East, Dorothy's journey, etc.). The events of 'Wicked' and Glinda's effective outcasting of The Wizard are to give him an ulterior reason for wishing to leave Oz in his balloon after Dorothy's companions return to the Emerald City, discover he is a fraud and receive their respective rewards. If you cannot recall the scene to which I refer, remember that Dorothy intended to return to Kansas with The Wizard in the balloon, but was left behind accidentally and had to seek an alternative means of returning home ('There's no place like home' etc. etc.).

^ Exactly. The whole "confer, converse, and otherwise hob-knob with my fellow wizards" story is just a cover-up. The Wizard is leaving because of what transpires in the scene in Wicked occurring right after the melting.
