hey, did you check out that song I put up a couple pages back? Am I nuts to think that it fits really well with Elisabeth/der Tod? Sorry to rake up posts, but I'm currently on a kick with that song. I just discovered it and I'm hooked, although it's generally more mainstream than the band is normally.

XD Here I go again trying to blend the world of metal and showtunes...Laughing

I think that song does fit for Elisabeth and Der Tod really well, although I'm not really a big fan of that type of music. Razz

You're just as sane as everyone else here, although that's not saying too much. Wink

Have you seen any videos of the Swiss Elisabeth? It has an outdoor theatre with some very interesting sets and costumes.

Haha! I am here, if anyone missed me. Rehearsals, and now my computer has a virus. T.T

But anyhow, I finished the lyrics for Ich Gehoer Nur Mir, and now I feel extremely empowered and ambitious about translating stuff! Any requests, before I disappear for a week or so?

This.

Quote:

Schau, was dir meine Augen sagen!
Ich lieb dich, Maxim.
Ich möchte niemals fort von dir.
Bist du glücklich?
Ich habe noch so viel zu lernen.
Manchmal denk ich,
dass ich dich dauernd nur blamier'.

MAXIM: DU bist jung.
Du hast bestimmt oft Langeweile.

ICH: Überhaupt nicht.

MAXIM: Wahrscheinlich fehlt dir vieles hier.

ICH: Ich hab doch alles, was ich brauche. Was sollte mir denn fehlen?

MAXIM: Ausflüge, Strandpartys, Freundinnen, Tanzfeste, Einladungen. Was man in deinem Alter halt so macht.

MRS. DANVERS: Entschuldigen Sie die Störung, Sir.

MAXIM: Was gibt es, Mrs. Danvers?

MRS.

Was interessiert mich dieser Nippes.

MAXIM (gesprochen): Mir schaden? Wie?

ICH: Na ja, die Leute tratschen gern.

MAXIM (plötzlich wütend, gesprochen): Tratschen gern?
as zum Teufel weisst du

ICH: Was macht dich so zornig?

By the way, it is pronounced My-er-ling. Not may as in the month. Just my as in "my favorite musical".

OOOH....I must see this outdoor Elisabeth *goes to Youtube*

EDIT: that was freakin' awsome! I love the movable geometric set pieces, especially how they're used to convey meaning in certain scenes, eespecially Boote en Der Nacht where Sissi and FJ are standing on separte levels AND pieces, as a physical separation to add to their emotional one. I also love some of the staging, mainly Die Schatten. I saw a reharsal clip of the whole thing with Oliver Arno, and there is very little contact between Rudolf and der Tod. Instead der Tod uses his "powers" to throw Rudolf around, like he usaually does in with Sissi in Der Letzte Tanz. It's really rather fascinating because it really physicallizes Rudolf's inner mental turmoil, I think. I also love the little piece of Mama Wo Bist Du? they give us, with Der Tod right behind Rudolf, unsure of whether to get his attention or not...very human blocking for der Tod. Overall, I like the functionality and genral feel of sparseness the geometric set pieces gives the show. They're not extravagent looking, but they can be used in so many ways-I especially like how they use the top portions of the set pieces for the romantic scene at the beginning with FJ and Sissi...and I love how everyone comes out to sing for the epilogue on the stage while der Tod carries Sissi off at the top of one of the pieces.

Now, for the very few qualms I have:
1. I feel that Lucheni was trying too hard to be Serkan...but maybe it's just my brain going nuts. Also, thanks to the blurry video, I thought he kinda looked like one of the Vilage People in Milch...
2. The costumes were really very good from what I saw, but a couple of Sissi's outfits just looked odd to me Confused
3. Death looked like a 90's Metallica reject raided Stanley Burleson's costume wardrobe Mad Excellent singer and actor though. I just wish he'd shaved and gotten a better hairdo than the grundge friz XP

But that is it really for problems. I was also surpised to note that Sissi was played by the woman who opened the German production of Wicked as Elphaba. She's really a very good actress and singer. I hope she doesn't wreck her voice doing Wicked.

Anway, rant ended Mr. Green

Woot! I'm in the process of watching the outdoor Elisabeth! Have I ever mentioned how much I adore outdoor theatre? I'm also in the process of translating that song, Katie-chan. It'll take me a while, but maybe I'll kill some time in tomorrow's West Side rehearsal doing that (Jet Girls do absolutely nothing after the Dance At The Gym, as it turns out. Very Happy)

No, I don't think so. I love it because it has Willemijn Verkaik in it.
