 1982 version
The 80's version is my fave for many reasons including:
The stellar cast-Quinn, Finney, Peters, Curry, Burnett...etc.
They all were on their "A" game in the movie.
The cinematography made the movie feel like one of those classic musicals.
The music was great. Unlike some, I feel that the music that was written for the movie is somewhat better (save "Why Change A Thing?" "A New Deal For Christmas", and "Something Was Missing". The first and last song should have been included in the movie, because they broaden the characters.) The only problem that I had with the original movie was the second to last scene where Annie tears the check up and runs up the bridge. I mean seriously? Would any kid climb up that thing?
I also thougtht that the cabinet scene could have been included in the movie also. It would have let you see more of Roosvelt.
Besides that, the movie is amazing!

the 1999 version is my favorite, I watch it all the time and I have to cast album. I haven't seen the old movie in years so I don't really remember any of it.

Watched both, like both, prefer 1982. End of story. Gotta love drunk Miss Hannigan.

Re: 1982 movie vs. 1999 movie
the 1982 is better by far is more girtty and that's how it should be I just felt the 1999 had been made to cheesy and a bit to sweet for my liking and I felt that Kathey Bates was not mean enough as miss hannigan. and I dont like the songs as much it was to happy and Christmasy

Take the 1982 cast, give them the '99 script. That's the movie I want in my head.
