I just received the script and suggested changes in the music. From reading through them, the song changes seem to make sense.

For those of you that have performed the show with the new songs ... did you find that it did, in fact, improve the show?

Using Mama's song did and does! It's hysterical!

In the production I saw, they added "Bye Bye Birdie," "Let's Settle Down," and "A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore." All of them were really fantastic, and actually the best parts of the show.

We added "Let's Settle Down" and "A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore." Best numbers in the show. Hands down.

Our Rose was much more of a singer than she was a actress or dancer, and "Settle Down" is easy to act and it's not very dancy. It did, however, highlight her gorgeous voice.

Mama in my production was played by this hysterical, flamboyant, moose of a man. Of course, he hammed it up like none other. It was amazing. If your Mama is a singer, I'm sure she'll be glad to have a big solo number. And the audience enjoys it, too.

In the original film, which "Bye Bye Birdie" is added for, the song isn't part of the story. Ann-Margaret sings it (as Kim) before the story begins with a reprise at the end. I don't think it fits in the book anywhere. Maybe at the train station, but those scenes are so busy all ready, ya' know?

In the production I saw, when they added the songs, "Bye Bye Birdie" was a whole seperate scene. I'm pretty sure it was right after "Telephone Hour," or somewhere in between there. At the beginning Ursula announced that Kim quit the fan club. Typical reactions, they couldn't believe it, etc. It was something like "How could anyone not love Conrad Birdie?" then they started. I'm paraphrasing a LOT, though. I saw the production like 4 years ago.

We had the added songs. Our Mrs. Peterson was HILARIOUS, absolutely amazing.

In the production I was in, I did Let's Settle Down instead of the One Boy reprise. We also had A Mother Doesn't Matter, and it brought down the house every night, as did Spanish Rose (3 drunk men chasing Rose, it was organized chaos).

If I'm reading the info correctly ... Spanish Rose has been changed in some manner as well. Can anyone explain "how" it's been changed?

There are extra verses added to Spanish Rose. They make the song WAY better.

My theater had Rosa in... a bar, I think? Or some type of thing like that... we had a bunch of old guys getting all excited or something... it was a few months ago when I saw it, so I don't remember.
