I see your point, I guess I just thought that she would be so perfect for the role, and, well, you never really know why an actor takes the parts they do...

Well they have their reasons...
For instance Angela did Sweeney Todd because she knew it was going to be unlike anything she had ever done before. She was also excited to get back to her roots and play a poor cockney woman. The depth of the role also appealed tremendously to her.
Madame M is just...look, I think if she wanted to do Wicked in any form she certainly could have done it by now. I mean, come on! Are the producers going to deny one of the theatre's great actresses to do a role in a show that is generally not well received by theatre people? She would attract a TON of people! If she hasn't done it by now...I just don't see her wanting to do it.

Yeah, I see your point...especially with the whole thing about if she wanted to do it she would have already done it...but still, why did she come back to film after a 20 year hiatus, just to play Aunt Adelaide in Nanny McPhee? (also very muchout of curiosity)

One word: Money.

And there's a difference between doing a role onstage adn doing it in a movie. Meryl Streep, for instance, would never have done Mamma Mia onstage, but leapt at the chance to do a film.
Unless the part is expanded for the film, Angela is unlikely to play Morrible. However, someone famous, respected but washed-up is likely to. Liza, anyone?

Liza would be the funniest thing to ever have happened, ever.... "Many years i have waited for a gift such as yours Elphaba... why the last person i saw who had it was my Mamma, do you know who my mother was Elphaba? Judy Garland, I know, i know!"
You may all choose to ignore it or think it's lame but i tell you it never gets old!

Good idea.
I also think Miriam Margoyles would make a good movie Morrible, especially since she's already played it before.

Liza would be a great/funny choice!
But I would LOVE to see Morrible potrayed by...Julie Andrews : D!
I know she can't sing a lot, but Morrible's singing part isn't very significant...I'd love to see her in a movie as a villain! Meryl Streep or Angela Landsburry would be amazing choices too!
