 10 Best Elphabas.
Love this 'top ten'. I agree with most of them (Especially Idina and Stephanie J. Block) but not sure about Nicole Parker and some of the others. What do you think? http://www.broadwayspace.com/page/the-wizard-and-they-whos-your

How can anyone rank them who hasn't seen ten of them?
Just curious.

They've basically picked the 10 who played the role thing longest/most prolifically. That list has every Broadway Elphaba except Marcie Dodd.
I'd definitely have Willemijn Verkaik up there, personally. I'm not crazy on Parker, but those who saw her raved about her.

I agree on Willemijn, but I'm assuming it's from English-speaking productions only. As for Parker she was just overrated like crazy, despite having dime-a-dozen acting chops and a voice that had the crap amplified out of it to achieve a 'belt' sound.

I, personally, disagree with you. Nicole Parker's acting was the best I'd ever seen in the role, live or otherwise, and her singing was excellent as well.

9 of the Elphabas were from the USA, and one from England. None from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Germany...
IMO Willemijn Verkaik should definitely be on there as well.

I've seen Wicked with SJB, Kerry Ellis and Marcie Dodd (twice). Personally I thought Marcie was just awesome, never messed up her lines, made the singing look and sound effortless, she brought me to tears even though I listen to the soundtrack all the time and knew what was going to happen lol. The others were also great, but I really think Marcie was my fave. I've noticed that not many others share the Marcie Dodd love lol, am I missing something? I mean I realize there are different tastes but I certainly thought she was at least "up to par" with the other Elphabas and didn't suck, at the very least! But she doesn't make anyone's top 10 list even. I've seen some pretty sucky Elphabas on YouTube. Just wondering.

She didn't get the nickname 'Marcie Dudd' for nothing.

Vocally she was fine; she was just mindblowingly satisfactory and awe-inspriringly mediocre.
Though now we have Dee Roscioli, who takes adequacy to a new level.

I was at Marcie's last show on Broadway and I thought she was good but she isn't one of the stronger Elphabas. To be honest, she didn't even touch Idina Menzel or Kerry Ellis (both of which I've seen live aswell).

Hopefully she's improved a bit since ending her Broadway run. I'll be getting her in April if her contract doesn't run out (which it probably will have by then).
