I still really love the show and find it thouroughly entertaining on a number of levels, but i also acknowledge it has some floors

I say Nessa. She has a lot of drama, and goes on quite an emotional journey, but does not have a lot of material to make it happen with.

Yes (See, you misspelt "flaws" if you missed - you didn't edit it that's all).

Fiyero definatley. It's very hard to understand him and I think it would be VERY hard to play his role. He's emotions have to change quickly, like first he's stupid and shallow, next he's caring and in love with a green person. I don't get it! Whoever has to play his role must be dramatic and emotional!

I personally think Madame Morrible would be a bit difficult to play. Only because she's got this whole power hungry and ready to take over the world attitude. Shy people, like me...kinda, well they would have a difficult time playing her. But then again Madame Morrible also has to have a great booming voice sometimes not easy to find.
Of course any part in the show would be hard to play. But the real question in my opinion is what part would you want to play, or what part wouldn't you want to play because it's so difficult?

Honestly, I think all the characters would be pretty tricky with the changing emotions and whatnot, but I think it would be hardest to play Elphaba. Not only does the performer have to 'find herself' throughout the musical, but she plays opposite Galinda in 'Popular.' Nuff said.

Wow mastachen, it's great to read all that into the wizard's character, but we're really discussing how it's played.... which is a completely different thing. All those things may be his motivations but the part is played in a completely "light-hearted" manner. We never SEE him bringing those motivations to the surface. I'm sure there is some dark stuff in there, it just doesn't hit the stage. We're left to figure it out (which is why it's discussion between us!)
He's "A Sentimental Man" and he's "WONDERFUL"! LOL
