I've listened to the music. Overblown pop trash. That's a slot on Broadway that could be used for budding theatre talents like Pasek & Paul.

I'm personally excited about Rebecca - not that I'll be in NY to see it! It's one of my favourite books and I saw a play of it before - I hope the music is good.

Honestly, I think Christopher Hampton is great, but his track record with musicals indicates that his involvement in Rebecca is a definite step up. I mean, the last homegrown talent he worked with on a musical was Frank Wildhorn, and we all know how Dracula turned out.
Otherwise, everything Mungojerrie_rt said. I personally have more faith in this adaptation than I should.
If you want to rail on Euro-pop musicals, why don't you have a go at Ghost? Or Spider-man? Those Irish boys just don't know musical theatre...
