 child audition
My 7 yr old has told me that she wants to be in musicals, movies, etc. While I am not thrilled about this new information, I believe that it is important to support her in her aspirations and let her decide for herself......within reason (ha,ha). My problem is that I have no idea where to start this process and need some advise.
Suggestions....anyone???

 Re: child audition
Get her into dance classes or see if there are any young child acting classes. That way it will be a safe, supporting environment. Besides, dance is great exercise, regardless.

 Re: child audition
Thanks Robin for the advice.....she does like to dance so it would be an outlet anyways. i am thinking of maybe dancing and possibly some type of musical performed by an independent theater here. Maybe more of a dancing role because she knows nothing about acting but it would get her exposure to the acting part.

 Re: child audition
Check out local community theaters! Many of them have plays and programs specifically for children and teens, so that might be a good place to start her onstage. Community centers and local art centers should hopefully offer beginner acting classes for children. I agree with Koza though, dance classes would be the very best place to start overall. They will help her become comfortable and aware of her body, and having a strong dance background will really help in the future with musicals. Good luck!
