My high school is going to be performing Les Mis this Spring, and auditions are coming up in the future- I'm 16 years old, 6' 2", with a range of a low F - High A flat, A if I do enough warm ups, but the A has been getting more solid as I sing it more, naturally, and I want to audition in hopes of playing either Jean Valjean or Javert. (Although it is not auditioning for specific parts: I just have to sing a broadway/off-broadway song in the style of Les Mis, and I could be cast as anything) Does anyone have any suggestions on what to sing that may be geared towards these parts? I had been considering Anthem from Chess, but I would like as many options to consider as possible!

It's tricky to suggest a song that would put you in the running for both Valjean and Javert, since Valjean's a tenor and Javert's a baritone... That said, I've always thought that "Falcon in the Dive" from The Scarlet Pimpernel would make a fantastic audition song for Javert.

I practiced and rehearsed this for two months, and it sure payed off! Sure enough, I was cast as Javert! I highly recommend this song to anyone who needs a song to audition for the part of Javert in the future.
