 Suggestions for a beginner's repertoire?
Hi! I have quite the broad question for you guys, but I'm hoping you can help me out.
I'm a sixteen year old girl, looking to expand her audition repertoire. In the past, I've picked my audition songs based on the show, and learned songs specifically for each show. Well, I'm kind of between shows currently, with no up-coming audition in sight, so I'm looking to expand my repertoire. But I'll be totally honest - I'm not the most well versed in musicals. All I ever see are lists of songs NOT to sing... So, for a mezzo soprano, with a strong chest voice, a strong head voice, but not the best mix (C, C sharp, D and D sharp above middle C are all a little weak for me) what are some good (not over done!) audition songs to put into my repertoire?
