 Re: Audition song thread?
I'm auditioning for Avenue Q and I'm kinda split between a few songs: They want a song with character (since they haven't seen many good character songs) I'm a tenor with a low A3 (I think) and a high A above middle C. I want to do either: Giants In The Sky (from Into The Woods), but I'm afraid it won't be enough character, plus the accompaniment is pretty hard. I'm Not That Smart (From ...Spelling Bee), but I'm afraid there's too much dialogue. Snoopy (from You're A Good Man Charlie Brown), but I'm afraid that it's too easy.

 Re: Audition song thread?
Is "Candle on the Water" (Pete's Dragon) an okay song for a musical theatre audition? It's a great song, in my range, not overdone, but it isnt really a mt song...thoughts?

 Re: Audition song thread?
Probably too late, but I would go with either of these.

 Re: Audition song thread?
Anyone have some good songs for a Benny audition for Rent? He's not really a huge character or a belter so there goes most audition songs in my head.
My buddy is also trying out for Angel but is completely at a loss for song choice due to 'how unique that kind of role is'. His words. Any suggestions?

 Re: Audition song thread?
I made a separate post about this, but basically I need two songs for an audition for Into the Woods, one for Little Red and one for The Witch. For Little Red I'm looking at "Schroder" and "My New Philosophy" from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and "I Speak Six Languages" from Spelling Bee, along with maybe the title song from "Anyone Can Whistle". For the Witch I'm looking at "Everybody Loves Louis" and "Move On", both from Sunday in the Park with George, but I'm leaning towards "Louis". Any suggestions on these, as well as any other song ideas, would be greatly appreciated! ETA: Pretty sure I'm going to sing Louis for the Witch, but I'm still open to suggestions. I've been looking for some more Little Red songs, and I'm stuck between two right now: The Miller's Son and The Glamorous Life (movie version). Both are from A Little Night Music. I'm leaning towards Glamorous Life because it's more suited for her age, but the character Fredericka seems to have more of a legit voice than a character one, so I don't know. :\ Miller's Son also has more fast parts and tempo/timing changes, but I've also heard it being used for Baker's Wife and some of the older roles. So yeah, I'm pretty stuck. XD Thoughts?

 Re: Audition song thread?
I think you mean low A2 -- A3 is just a minor third below middle C. A2-A4 is a pretty commonish lyric baritone range.

 Re: Audition song thread?
I need help with a Beauty and the Beast audition- I think I'm going for Maurice. I was going to audition with "A Sentimental Man" although I have had absolutely no luck in obtaining the sheet music. I have a fairly broad range, but I don't really know any specifics. Can anyone help?

 Re: Audition song thread?
I plan on auditioning for In The Heights at my school within the next month. I have not read the script for the musical yet, but could someone please recommend a few songs for my audition. I am a "Bass" but in chorus I'm much more comfortable singing the higher notes than the lower notes and my teacher one time caught me singing the tenor part on accident (I just match what I hear...I wasn't taught how to sing the notes on the page but I can read music, but not the bass cleff that well bc I played instruments on the treble cleff) And can someone please recommend a monologue for me? I have never auditioned for a musical before, but my teacher (who is the director) gave me a few "minor" roles in the musical last year without an audition. So I need help so this year I can land a major role.

 Re: Audition song thread?
I have no specific show to audition for, but I was just wondering if anyone had some good bass songs, that are easily identifiable, yet not overused?

 Re: Audition song thread?
Is "Special" from Avenue Q a good comedic audition song? I'm tossing up between that, "Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee" and "Some People" from Gypsy.

 Re: Audition song thread?
^ I wouldn't do "Special." From those three, I'd try "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee." Hey. I know I haven't been here in forever and that this thread isn't much luck, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I'm trying to think of a song for Emmett in Legally Blonde. Just need something uptempo and contemporary... but for Emmett. Thanks for any help.
