Hello!

Here's something that is precious to keep ALIVE!

Algonquin Hotel: Don't close the Oak Room

From New York friends I got the bad news about the Closing of OAK ROOM at the Algonquin Hotel one of the historical spot for shows; always been a place for theater people to stay in and have meetings at.

"My Fair Lady" was written at the Algonquin in Frederick Loewe's suite there! AND the Oak Room has had a number of Broadway stars doing their cabaret show there -- such as Lilliane Montevecchi ("Nine"), Rita Moreno, Christine Andreas, Howard McGillin, Tom Wopat, etc. ;)

Oak Room is where entertainers like Jamie Cullum, Diana Krall, and Harry Connick, Jr. got worldwide recognition for their talents and put their stamps on American music. Also Peter Cincotti, at 18, was the youngest performer to have an engagement at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room. He and the Algonquin were the talk of NYC and music lovers throughout the world. 8-) :-({|=

So here's a link of an OnLine Petition to keep ALIVE the OAK ROOM that is an important piece of NYC!
