Re: What got you into theatre?
Singing. I wanted to be a singer. And then I saw A Midsummer Night's Dream. And then I saw Cats. And that settled it.
I'll elaborate more later. X D

Re: What got you into theatre?
SO it all started in 1968 with Mel Brooks' film The Producers. I was only about 10 but I was still allowed o watch it and I loved it! The farce and comedy of theatre inthis film just made me love it more! THEN I heard (many many years later!) that they were going to turn it into a musical for Broadway! I HAD to see it soI combined a trip to visit my daughter with a trip to The Producers. Then three years later, to my delight it came to London! Hands down best show I have ever seen! So drak and funny and daring! I wish they would bring it back! Who else has seen it? Who agrees with me? http://www.theproducerslondon.com/MJ

I was constantly singing and dancing as a child, but the defining moment in my life was probably when I was tried out for my school's production of The Music Man when I was 10 and was cast as Amaryllis.

Re: What got you into theatre?
I actually just took an acting class on a whim - turns out I fell madly in love with it and the bug bit hard. Since then, I've done quite a bit of theater and even made a small independent film. You never know what life has in store for you.

I'm convinced that in 10-years this will be the moment we can identify as to when my 5-year old niece fell in love w Theater. Yesterday in Bryant Park Casts from Stomp, Phantom, Porgy & Bess, Spiderman and War Horse all performed FOR FREE! They do this next Thursday too, so definitely going again. Came across great performances pics http://pblcty.com/event/302

Les Mis got me into theatre I freaking love it. My parents bought the VHS of the 10th anniversary concert when I was two and we watched it so much we wore it out and had to buy spares. I've wanted to play Fantine since I can remember...

Re: What got you into theatre?
I'd always been vaguely interested in acting as a child. I took dance amd I loved to sing. However, it never really processed with me that I could be acting then, not in some distant future. I was also terminally shy when I was a little girl, so I can't imagine it would have gone well if I had tried to do a play then. The summer before my 7th grade year, I did Alice in Wonderland Jr. at my local community theatre and feel in love completely. I knew it was what I wanted to do. Now I never shut up singing or talking about musicals. It annoys my friends and family like crazy.

Re: What got you into theatre?
Well, it's a long story. For starters, I've been around musical-movies my entire life, and practically grew up on Rodgers & Hammerstein and the old MGM movies. I saw my first stage show, "The Secret Garden," about 14 years ago. It was soon followed by other musicals onstage including: Thoroughly Modern Millie, Man Of La Mancha, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jekyll and Hyde, Cats, The Sound Of Music, Annie, Les Mis, and Oliver!.
I didn't really have a desire to be on the stage, and was quite content with just being a fan of musical-theatre. Then one day, I began to see myself onstage and performing in musicals. Since then, I consider North Carolina Theatre my second home and will be joining it's conservatory's spring semester.
I can't really say what brought the desire about. But every time I see a musical on stage, something tells me that I'm meant to be up there on the stage and singing my heart out. I know it sounds silly, but there it is.

Re: What got you into theatre?
Well, I know this isn't going to look good for me after everything I just said . But I've decided to not join that conservatory after all, as I've come to realize that writing is my true talent. Perhaps, in the future, I won't deny my desire to be onstage, but right now I have to do what I know and love best and that is writing. Still, I hope I'm welcomed in the musicals.net community...

Re: What got you into theatre?
Everyone was telling me that I should go out for a community production of Annie and I got in as a Chorus Member and The Star To Be. I loved the entire experience and that is why I stuck with it.

Re: What got you into theatre?
Since I was tiny I loved to perform in beauty pageants and just around the house. So my dad who is a musician asked me if I wanted to be in the Children's Choir of Joseph and the Amazing Technocolored Dreamcoat. Me being the little ham I am jumped at the chance and that was the first ever experience I had being involved in a show.

Re: What got you into theatre?
I discovered the theater as a child when my dad took me there for the first time. My dad used to watch many plays and also he was fond of music . So along with him I’d watch the blockbuster musicals and few plays, but the real events were the do-overs of musty classics—much of it from Europe. Later fascinating plays from the great sirs provided exquisite food for my young brain and heart.
