Current Obsession: Paul Gordon's new musical, "Emma"

 Rodgers and HART So, I know a *little* bit about their collaborative efforts, but not much. A theater near me is thinking of doing some sort of R & Hart review this summer. Is there something like this already made? (as in, a review show you license from somewhere) They do a lot of shows they sort of 'write' themselves (or use local authors). Needless to say, not the best quality.
BUT, it may be my only chance this year (if I don't get in to the pro theater's summer musical) of doing anything, well...musical.
Worth it?

Rodgers and Hart Revues There are two Rodgers and Hart revues that I know of: Rodgers and Hart: A Celebration and Beguiled Again: the Songs of Rodgers and Hart. I don't know what either of them is like as a show.

Yeah, Rodgers and Hart music is great for the most part  It's the only thing that makes Babes in Arms standable.

Hart was one of the greatest and wittiest lyricists of all time. in the same leauge as Porter,Coward and Sondheim.

There was a revue from the R&H organization in the early 1980's and early 1990's called Sing for Your Supper, which may have been supplanted by the others. the R&H organization is where to go for info.

And if you like Richard Rodgers but find Hammerstein's sentimentality a bit much, Rodgers & Hart is definitely the way to go.

It looks like I am going to be "featured" in this revue, whatever it ends up being- thus saith my bio (which I did not write!!) in the program for the one-act I'm in at this theater. This director sure is backwards.

so the plan is for this review to have 3 couples: a younger couple (like teens/late teens) a middle couple (30's?-40's?) and an older couple. I will be the female in the middle couple. (I think we'll all be singing solos, duets and group numbers)
What roles or songs would be appropriate for a late 20's/30's woman to sing, character-wise? I'm not all that familiar with the R & Hart collaborations, except Babes in Arms, which I hated.
The director hasn't decided what songs we will be doing yet, but he has a tendency to try to throw stuff together last minute and be very unorganized... so I wanted to get a jump start on being familiar with as much as I can. What should I look into that I might be singing?

Well, if you don't care for Babes in Arms, I would suggest "He and She" from BOYS FROM SYRACUSE.
