^^Wow Salome, it feels like I haven't agreed with you for about a week now. But de Becque and Nellie are the best couple. I think they are also the most realistic, even though the romance between the Captain and Maria was real...I guess I mean that one stage the relationship between Forbush and de Becque is the most relatable, complex, and realistic couple.

Julie and Billy for me- I find their relationship the most painful and the most fascinating.

Anna and the King. Simply because they were a couple of unfulfilled love, and their story is the most interesting of all R & H couples. The "Shall We Dance" number is so romantically charged. They get my vote.

 Favourite Rodgers and Hammerstein Couple
I chose Emile DeBeque and Nellie Forbush. I think their relationship really encompasses the greatest arc, the most complex journey, of any of the Rodgers and Hammerstein couples. They both change and develop so much individually as the play goes on and I love the way one sees those individual developments impact on the relationship. For me, their love comes across as the most real and the way their relationship ebbs and flows and then snaps into focus is so realistic and so thoroughly and pulled through the entire play with purpose and suspense.

Julie and Billy. There's such a painful realism to their relationship.

 Re: Favorite R & H Couple
So many good ones to choose from!!! But I'm going to go in the opposite directions of the obvious choices, and pick Will/Ado Annie as they are the typical comedy romantic duo. Plus Annie can't say no ](./images/smilies/smilies2/icon_wall.gif)
