Sounds perfect! Finally we may have a good film version of the show. Jackman is ideal.

I'm actually getting really excited about this already. I'll always have a soft spot for the 1956 version, but I'm very curious to find out how this will be handled. Jackman should be superb
Something that's been bothering me- when the boards were changed, why was the Carousel forum taken away? A forum for Wicked was added, for goodness sake

Oh I do hope it happens! I love the MacRea/Jones original but it is very flawed and a remake would hopefully be done without the awkward flashback way of story telling. I just hope they find someone good and suitable for Julie Jordan and not some big name actress who they just want to draw in an audience.

I really dig the casting of Jackman for the part. Yay.

Who else SHOULD be in this? Or, has any casting been announced other than Jackman?

Hi, I'm new here! Oh my goodness, this sounds WONDERFUL! Such exciting news!! I'm a huge fan of Rogers & Hammerstein, my #1 favorite musical of theirs being Carousel. And I was just thinking recently how perfect Jackman would be if they ever remade this, so it's fantastic to find out that it actually is happening.
Great news!

 CAROUSEL Movie Remake
Very flawed? Perhaps an understatement. Is there any redeeming feature to the film besides the recreation of Agnes de Mille's second act ballet? Maybe I need to watch it again soon...
It's been about a year since the last decent injection of buzz into this project. How I wish it would come to fruition soon - before Hugh Jackman really does start looking too old for the role! IMDB now has the remake pegged for 2013, by which time Jackman will be 45! Come on, Fox! Do it NOW! But David Magee's screenplay had better be up to scratch. And hire a decent director!

I think Fox is junking the movie. The Hugh Jackman-Anne Hathaway casting is problematic. I think Amy Adams might make a better Julie but she is rather bland.

 Re: Carousel movie remake?
I agree that Jackman would be good in this, if they get a move on before he is too old ... but given he has already played Curly in Oklahoma on screen (as Gordon McRae did), it might be an unfortunate direct comparison.
However we need a new Carousel if only to get on screen the full Soliloquy, as written.

As in, including the often-cut "when I have a daughter..." bit?
