Anyway, in other news, Arthur Laurents said in a recent interview
that he thought the Encores! production was a cockamamie idea and that he was rehearsing a "No Comment" response. But word on the street is that he didn't shut up all the way through the dress rehearsal he watched and that, in reply to Fay's line "I'm brilliant", he said, "No, I'm
brilliant for having written that".
Ironic then, isn't it, that it's the cockamamie book of Anyone Can Whistle
that's always let it down?
