 Spike Jonze needs to film Sunday in the Park with George I was just watching "Adaptation" and thinking that Spike Jonze would be the perfect director for Sunday!!! He would do suuuuch a beautiful job with it. Plus he has an eccentric enough sense of humor to make scenes like "The Day Off" work out.
Anyone else think that Sunday would make a brilliant movie? With Kate Winslet as Dot?

I have a very Finding Neverland-image of it.
But yes, Kate Winslet *HAS* to be Dot. Of course, we already have the image of her in the second act from THE READER too  .
Lapine actually said there was going to be a movie but he didn't pursue it, a decision he regrets. (Sunday commentary DVD).

I concur with the Kate Winslet love! That's perfection, no doubt.
Now if only we can think of a good Georges...hmm...

They may be a tad old now, but I was thinking either Colin Firth or Daniel Day-Lewis.

Daniel Day Lewis would be way too old at 53 years old. He MIGHT be able to get away with being Georges in the first half, but there is definitely no way he could be remotely convincing as the younger, contemporary great-grandson trying to find his place in the art world.
Ditto with Colin Firth.
Who in Hollywood has the acting ability for such a difficult role, and the singing chops, and is also the right age? And is a big enough name to be suitable for the box office?

Well, I think that if they did a movie they would cast different people as the different parts, and not the same guy for Georges and George.
