 Tanz der Vampire
This is one of my favorite musicals. I did a search, and I didn't find any topics for it, so I decided to make one. I'm really, really sorry if there's already a topic for it.
So, what are your favorite songs? What's your favorite scene? If you were Sarah, who would you have chosen: Alfred or Krolock? Who are your favorite actors in each part?

Graf and Herbert Von Korlock are 2 of my dream roles, Steve Barton kicks ass, and I love the score so much!

I want to play Alfred. He songs are so good. And he suits my voice.
I love Jessica Kessler. She acts it so well, sings wonderfully, and is really 'A girl as beautiful as she.'

Steve Barton is incredible. His Krolock is really easy to sympathize with.
Jessica is one of my favorite Sarahs, and my absolute favorite German Sarah. The others that I like are the two Hungarian Sarahs, Zsanett Andrádi and Dóra Stróbel.
My favorite Alfreds are László Sánta and Gyuri Mihálka. They're both so sweet!
Herbert's part is hilarious.

Another German show I now absolutely love. Thanks Looney. I'll never go back to English stuff again.

I know, German musicals are taking over my list of favorite musicals. They are also taking over my iPod. English has been outnumbered on my iPod since August. XD
Gyuri Mihálka, one of my favorite Alfreds:

I'm having a heck of a time being able to order any of the soundtracks for the shows I want on my mp3 player from where I am. It's a little frustrating.
Gosh, the Hungarian production is so atmospheric...
And on another note, Gyuri Mihalka is really sweet-faced... kind of adorable, really.
On yet another note, I'm gong to ask something that's very probably stupid:
I understand that this show has an English translation. How is it? Because I know the English production sucked, but was that the translation's fault?

I could give you some links to some good sites, if you'd like. Also, I know some good sellers on ebay who had really good prices (and amazing shipping prices). Also, there are some albums on iTunes.
And I love the Hungarian production so much! Gyuria is so, so adorable! He was 19 when he played this role. I've been trying to find a video of the Draussen ist Freiheit Reprise in Hungarian, but I haven't had any luck.
There's a really good fan-made singable translation that follows the German one, and there is also a literal, fan-made translation following the German one. I haven't listened to the Broadway version much, but from what I've seen, the translation was the least of its problems.

Thanks! The main problem I have is that when I do find an album I want, the shipping is usually through the roof (I don't live that far north, do I?). If you could send me a site that has reasonable shipping, I'll marry you on a hill.
He was nineteen? Seriously? That's incredible! I'll go ahead now and say that he's my favourite Alfred, just for that.
Holy congestion, Batman! Why is it that whenever Michael Crawford does an accent (Italian, whatever the hell-anian that's supposed to be), he sounds like he has a head cold?
'Surely you hunger for morrah den cuked cabbage...'
Holy.

Apparantly, it was all Crawford's fault the show sucked *no pun intended*.
Supposedly he insisted on making the show more slapstick and it ended up loosing all of its dark humour and just all that was good in general.

Michael Crawford freaks me out. I don't even like him in Phantom. And that kind of ruined the song for me.
On the other hand, I really don't think that it's his fault if the director let him walk all over him. I think a lot got lost in translation because of the way they Broadway-ified this show.

Speaking of English stuff...it's incredible the difference in quality you get in non-English speaking Europe MusicalLand. Broadway hasn't been great lately. There havae been a couple good shows, like Next to Normal, but mostly, it's just quicky adaptations of movies to make big money. Hell, even Disney Shows are made better in non-English-speaking Europe!
