Review the current TV show you are watching Thread
Much like like the review the last movie you watched thread, you get to review the current show you are watching wither be it old or new.
Right now I am currently watching The Legend of Korra. To my amazement of this show....It's not only a great sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender, but it's actually way better! It has a great story with political undertones, great characters with an awesome voice over cast, beautiful animation, awesome action scenes, and has the same great humor the original show did have. Anyone that is a fan of the original show has to do themselves a favor and watch it.

Re: Review the current TV show you are watching Thread
I'm afraid I'm having problems with Korra, primarily with the characters. They're just not interesting to me. Korra's your basic tom boy archetype, which I'm bored to death of. Bolin serves no other purpose than to be the comic relief. That whole teeny bopper love triangle subplot could have been a great opportunity to develop him, but the writers took the easy way out and made him stupid silly (as oppose to Sokka in the original series, who was silly but still a genuine person). I found that entire episode completely pointless for that reason. Could have made for a more compelling drama if we knew more about these characters. But we don't. Do I even need to touch on this Asami character? She literally came out of nowhere.
But I'm trying to like it.

^ Well to be fair we are still in the middle of the first season. I'm sure the subplot is gonna lead to something.

That's exactly why I haven't given up on it just yet. I haven't a doubt they'll develop the characters further, but I feel it's important that the characters at least start out interesting or at least likeable right from the get-go. There has to be a reason for me want to go on a journey with them. When they start out really bland, I'm not interested in what happens to them. But there have been plenty of cases where a story started out really terrible, but by the end I walked away thinking it was great. Let's see where it takes us.

Re: Review the current TV show you are watching Thread
Current favorite TV shows I'm kindasorta keeping up with:
-Community. <3 6 SEASONS AND A MOVIE all the way. This show is freaking incredible. That's seriously the extent of my review. A+++ -Downton Abbey -- currently downloading the second season. Based on what I've seen of the first season, I think it's pretty fascinating. I love how detailed the two different worlds are, and there's plenty of drama and historical fiction to keep me interested. I also think the acting is great. So I'm pretty happy with it. A -Parks and Recreation is a great show, if you can get past the first season. I still haven't seen the 4th season, but seasons 2 and 3 are sidesplittingly hilarious. Can't wait to see what antics Leslie gets into.... of course, my favorite characters are Ron and April, duh. A
I don't tend to watch TV so most shows I do watch I'll probably give great reviews for since I've taken the time to actually watch them lol.

A recent obsession of mine has to be Pretty Little Liars. I love the plot of this show, it just leaves me begging for more at the end of each episode. One problem is I haven't seen them all, though, and have been searching for a place where I could get myself caught up.

My genre, science fiction, fantasy....has shows that typically get cancelled. Buffy the Vampire Slayer...awful titel, but damned well-written show that lasted 7 seasons. A pretty good run for something like this. (Of course the Emmys hated it) More recently however, we had Heroes. But of all the luck, after the 2nd season there was a writers' strike, and the 3rd season was total crap. The fans of the show ran away without looking back. At least until recently. (The producers are thinking of a comeback) I've just finished watching the 2 seasons of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. The only 2 seasons. Damn but that was one well-written show! No...no more for me.

Re: Review the current TV show you are watching Thread
Yay for Canadian cable TV in the summer XD I'm currently watching our latest CanCon fest, Continuum, and it's actually not half-bad. I'm a big Who-nerd, so the time-travel plot-line automatically got me interested. Basically a future cop accidently gets sucked in when a group of death-row innmates (all members of the same anti-corporate terrorist cell) escape from their group execution via a timey-whimey sphere that has yet to be fully explained outside of some science speak and electrical stuff we see in the second episode. In our future corporations have to bail out governments and thus become the government (the Canadian and US governments are joined into The North American Union), so of course the world is now corporate controlled and corporations are fully protected and defended by law, and said terorr cell are basically well-intentioned extremists. The one thing I find really interesting is that the morality lines aren't 100% clear yet. It's made fairly clear that while the future world is not some obvious dystopia, it's still not quite right, yet our protagonist is the cop, who's very pro-future society, rather than the escaped prisoners, (which could've made this a fairly straightforward freedom-fighter space-travel epic). The prisoners are instead shown as unnecessarily violent and ruthless, as good as thier intentions may be. So basically FutureCop teamm up with ModernCop (who doesn't actually know who she is yet) to track down the escaped terrorists in 2012.
Anyway, my only real gripe would be that no time is spent with the future world past the first episode. We don't see the people in the future working to bring everyone back, and none of the characters in the future are really developed beyond quick flashbacks no and again, although a shadowy corporate figure in the future is a main character as a tech-geek in the 2012 world, so you'd expect to see more of him as he works in the future (it's implied he helped orchestrated the whole escape in a sort of time-loop type idea where he's triggering events that have already happened for him). It's billed as a Sci-Fi show, but it mostly takes place in modern-day Vancouver with characters from the future and some future tech, but no more. However, it is only the fourth episode in, so they still have a lot of stuff to develop, so hopefully they'll use future episodes and seasons to milk the concept for all its worth.

Re: Review the current TV show you are watching Thread
I'm sorry, but all the shows I watch are older then my TV.
M*A*S*H- awesome. Even the episodes where Trapper has a mustache. (the serious ones) Did i mention that it's one of the best series of all time?
Hardcore Pawn- no class. Les is a good dude, but most of the people in his shop selling/buying things have no class.
I'm still waiting for my A-Team revival. Or the new Star Trek....

Dallas 2.0 . the Ewings are back and as volatile as ever...some major problems with the continuation of the series..but with Larry Hagman back as J.R. along with Patrick Duffy,Linda Gray, and Ken Kercheval..i am sure it will hit its stride soon. some of the newer actors need to step up their game a bit...but Josh Henderson as John Ross has potential. Its still Larry's show though..as it should be!

Re: Review the current TV show you are watching Thread
Interesting... Someone posted some stuff about "The Newsroom." (from its pilot episode) Transcript was as follows: TV news anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) emotionally checked out years ago, and now he's sitting on a college panel, hearing the same shouting match between right and left he's been hearing forever, and the arguments have become noise. A student asks what makes America the world's greatest country, and Will dodges the question with glib answers. But the moderator keeps needling him until... snap. Will It's not the greatest country in the world, professor, that's my answer. Moderator [pause] You're saying— WillYes. ModeratorLet's talk about— WillFine. [to the liberal panelist] Sharon, the NEA is a loser. Yeah, it accounts for a penny out of our paychecks, but he [gesturing to the conservative panelist] gets to hit you with it anytime he wants. It doesn't cost money, it costs votes. It costs airtime and column inches. You know why people don't like liberals? Because they lose. If liberals are so ----' smart, how come they lose so GODDAM ALWAYS! And [to the conservative panelist] with a straight face, you're going to tell students that America's so starspangled awesome that we're the only ones in the world who have freedom? Canada has freedom, Japan has freedom, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, Belgium has freedom. Two hundred seven sovereign states in the world, like 180 of them have freedom. And you—sorority girl—yeah—just in case you accidentally wander into a voting booth one day, there are some things you should know, and one of them is that there is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we're the greatest country in the world. We're seventh in literacy, twenty-seventh in math, twenty-second in science, forty-ninth in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, third in median household income, number four in labor force, and number four in exports. We lead the world in only three categories: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next twenty-six countries combined, twenty-five of whom are allies. None of this is the fault of a 20-year-old college student, but you, nonetheless, are without a doubt, a member of the WORST-period-GENERATION-period-EVER-period, so when you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I don't know what the ---- you're talking about?! Yosemite?!!! [Cell-phone cameras are everywhere— people are tweeting and texting away.] We sure used to be. We stood up for what was right! We fought for moral reasons, we passed and struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were, and we never beat our chest. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and cultivated the world's greatest artists and the world's greatest economy. We reached for the stars, and we acted like men. We aspired to intelligence; we didn't belittle it; it didn't make us feel inferior. We didn't identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn't scare so easy. And we were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men, men who were revered. The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one—America is not the greatest country in the world anymore. Will [to moderator] Enough? -------------------------------- From what I'm told, based upon the stregnth of the first 3 episodes, it's already been picked up for a 2nd season.
