Post Re: 2012 Tony Award Nominations
Here's ma thoughts:

EXTREMELY surprised that One Man, Two Guvnors didn't get a nom for Best Play. Bit of a headscratcher.

Intrigued to see Laura Osnes take the last Best Actress slot over both Bernadette Peters and Elena Roger. But I love her, so it's fine.

Leap of Faith for Best Musical? Really? It got some of the worst reviews I've seen for a long time. But then on the other hand, I expected Raul to get a nod for Best Actor, but they've gone the opposite way round. He will be FUMING.

It's an indictment of the quality of the season's new musicals that two plays are nominated for Best Score.

Good work Kristin Chenoweth with that orchestrations zinger.

Surprised not to see Lansbo for Featured Actress, but I suppose she shouldn't be given an award just for being there.

Delighted that both Phillip Boykin and David Alan Grier got (extremely well deserved) nominations, at the expense of Ricky Martin too.

Featured Actress in a Musical. This one's a thinker. I guess Davis' nomination is in recognition of Once's whole ensemble, but I would have thought Kara Lindsay might have snuck in there instead. And Jayne Houdyshell? Don't get me wrong, she's fantastic but I would have preferred to see Terri White, and expected Elaine Paige.

No Tyne Daly for Master Class?

Was only eligible for lead actress, just looking at the cheat sheet.

You're right, but I think that was pretty stupid of the producers.

So was Godspell not eligible this year or did it just suck?

Would've liked to have seen Caissie Levy up for Best Actress in a Musical for Ghost.

Sucked. So bad.

And as much as I enjoyed Caissie Levy in Ghost, there's no way she stood a chance against the other contenders.

Godspell actually wasn't bad at all.

And I think it's ridiculous how much Ghost got snubbed.

Sure, if you're a glutton for punishment.

Godspell's a great recording...and that's about it.

Ugh Cheno's orchestration line was gross. Kind of pissed me off.

Re: Featured actress/musical. I honestly would've died happily if Rosalind Elias snuck in for Follies. But Jayne's nice too.

I feel like Once is winning this thing. Newsies is a party but it's not particularly good. Leap of Faith's nomination is embarrassing

I'M TEAM DANNY BURSTEIN. ALSO JAN MAXWELL BUT AUDRA/ANY OF THE NOMINEES WOULD BE AWESOME.

You go, Laura Osnes. Jeremy Jordan too, he's pretty solid.

#late to the party
