Hi friends! So, I'm not entirely sure how it works for those of you in the States, but up here in Canada, if there is someone else with your name in the Canadian Actor's Equity, you need to have a different name to use as your stage name. As luck would have it, that's the case for me, so I've gone through it all, and chosen my new stage name, but anyways, I will get on to my point.
I'm just wondering if any of you have had to go through a similar experience, and how you spread the word of your name change, and all that sort of thing. If any of you have any name change/stage name experiences or stories, I would love to hear them. (:

My advice to you is to look around and see if anyone is registered using your first and middle names; if not, just do that, listing your middle name as last.

I've seen people do that, or just list the middle initial (i.e. John Smith is taken, so John C. Smith).

I'm not a professional actor but I decided to start using a stage name about 6 or 7 years ago.
