It was terrible. The characters were all cliches, plot points came out of nowhere, and the "live singing" (or lack thereof) didn't fool anybody.

That being said, I'm totally watching next week.

That's kind of how I feel. It was really cliche and random and the recorded vocals didn't help, but it's one of those things where you watch it anyway because it's just fun and entertaining.

To all the people who are complaining about the pre-recorded vocals, do you not watch movie musicals either? Those are all pre-recorded. I don't think they're trying to fool anybody, it's just a more economical way of doing it. Boom mics don't pick up sung vocals very well, and it's especially hard to set levels on a boom mic for a number of different voices.

Plus, it costs a lot more to shoot multiple video takes than it does to do multiple sound takes.

I wasn't necessarily complaining about the prerecorded vocals themselves, just the fact that they sounded really perfected, like trained recording artists. They could have recorded it and not edited it to perfection so much to make it sound more realistic or live.

^Exactly. Like the scene where the cheerleaders audition for the glee club. It would have been better to have just piano accompaniment instead of a professional backing track on CD with what sounded like more than just two backup singers.

I enjoyed Glee but I do think the music part of it is a bit cheesy.

Isn't that why everyone watches it, though?

Well, that and Jane Lynch:

"Iron Tablet? Keeps your strength up while you're menstruating."
"...I don't menstruate."
"Yeah? Neither do I."

:D

You guys realize its supposed to be cheesy, they are trying to spoof other shows that take themselves too seriously. Shows like "The Hills," "Gossip Girl," and "90210."

Yes, I guess it is. I'll still watch it even if the music is chessy because it makes me feel good about myself that I'm a part of music and theatre.

I'm really looking foward to the rest of the season. this week's episode was'nt as great as the pilot, but i think the show is entertaining and definately worth watching.

Also, my school choir is singing Glee's version of Don't Stop Believin at our Back to School Night, which i am very excited about b/c i love the arrangement.

I think it's a fun little show, and it's my guilty pleasure. I love it. I mean it's not the BEST thing ever, but I still love it.

And I love the girl who plays Emma, I think she's great. And I can't stop listening to "Take A Bow"

She played Charley in Ugly Betty too. I like her character of Emma in Glee much better. You definitely want her to be with Will and not his wife. I can't believe his wife lied to Will about having a baby!
