^I did that at the end of my first run of SOM with a different company. We did that show for 7 months, I think...yeah...7 months!

The show I have pics of was okay, but it was so short because it was stock...two weeks to rehearse, two to perform! :(

It's never long enough!

You should most definitely take that as a compliment!! :D

Our production rocked. We were all so tight by the end of it. I bawled at the end of the last show. In fact, I bawled onstage, during the curtain call. Yup, that's me. Sappy.

Oh gosh, I was a WRECK our closing night. I cried during Edelweiss, then again in the graveyard scene and then during the curtain call. I was such a disaster. All my stage siblings were looking at me like I was nuts. The freaking eight-year-olds held up better than I did!

jazzygirl - I'm hardcore community theatre so pretty much anything that has contracted actors is more professional them us. Half of our costumes came from raiding the local Value Village. Heh.

^I forgot to mention how much I LOVED your pics!

You know how you can look at certain snapshots from a performance and you can just tell when someone's a good actor? That was how I felt when I saw the pics of you in action! :) (Especially the "WEEEEE!" Pic!)

And I like the white window set piece that you guys had!

There were so many interesting pics that it got me excited to do SOM again! I've done this show in two different productions and you know what? I would do it again! LOL!

Wow, thank you 8O

When my show closed I very nearly auditioned for another SoM production right away (with the intention of auditioning for Maria instead of Liesl this time as not many places are willing to cast someone as old as me to play Liesl). I decided to do 42nd Street instead, but I still kind of wish I'd tried for SoM again :P

^ I think it's one of those shows you don't really get sick of doing. Our Mother Abbess had played the role twice before she did my production and Our Sister Margaretta had played Sister Sophia before.

Also, incase anyone was curious, I have some video clips from my production, on my YouTube channel. They're here:

Exactly what I was thinking. The photos are not cheesy, they tell it like it is, so well done to your photographer. Brilliant. =D>

I love all the pics!

It seems like the worst mistakes for Sound of Music costumes are made with the Baroness...

Here are my pictures:

http://drothhaar.smugmug.com/gallery/48467

I was Friedrich. :)

And since it seems to be semi-popular to list the actual ages of the kids:

Liesl - college... probably about 19/20
Friedrich - 13
Louisa - 11
Kurt - 11
Brigitta - 9
Marta - 11
Gretl - 6 I think

^ I loved our Baroness' costumes - I'm not sure that they were "period" per say, but she had an odd body type and was really hard to fit and she felt so pretty in her costumes that it was great to see.

Just for fun, the ages of my kids:

Liesl (me!) - 21
Friedrich - 12
Louisa - 13
Kurt - 12
Brigitta - 12
Marta - 8
Gretl - 8

Baker, awesome sets!

I've done SoM three times (and still no pics for you). It would take a lot of convincing to get me to perform in it, but I would love to direct a dark, sort of Brechtian production, having the actors play the instruments and projecting images of the holocaust.

I was in this show at my high school when I was a freshman. I played Kurt (don't worry I was 4'11" then, so I looked the part. Here were our ages:

Liesl: 14
Freidrich: 14
Luisa: 16
Kurt: 14
Brigitta: 16
Marta: 10
Gretl: 9

I know that the ages are kind of all over the place, but the heights for the kids were correct, as in we went from smallest (Gretl) to tallest (Liesl).
