A movie of the musical would definitely be nice. I just watched the non-musical movie for the first tme yesterday, and it was my least fav. or the three "versions" of Ragtime (book/movie/musical). It seemed like the musical really captures the spirit of the book much more.

I would love it if they did a movie of the musical with the same cast.
There is a non-musical film based on the book...Fran Drescher plays Tateh's wife lol =)

This is at the top of my list of musicals that need to be made into movies.
Even a recording of the Broadway cast would have been great.

I love the original film its brilliant. it was the late Jimmy Cagney's last role..not to mention one of Mandy patinkin's first film performances.
and dont forget Norman Mailer as Stanford White!

While it is by no means a complete recorded version of the play, there IS a PBS show on the Making of Ragtime the Musical with many scenes. The problem is that I don't think it was ever released for public sale after it showed on the air, and I have never been able to get my hands on a copy. But it does memorialize the performances in part of the original cast.
