The Head is just a guy's head sticking out from under or behind a platform, or under a pile of bodies on a "death cart."
Sometimes it's a puppet, though, operated by Pippin while someone offstage does the lines. If you do it that way, it's a great cameo for a locally recognizable voice.

At my high school, we had a guy dressed in all black sitting in this contraption thingy so that only his head was shown... but it still looked kinda cheesy. I like the puppet idea.

In the show I saw, they gave the lines to the Lead Player and had him operate the puppet. I thought that was pretty cool. ^^

Many Pippin fans will also remember the moment in the Pippin all-stars concert in which Michael Arden, as Pippin, knelt on the battlefield to speak to the head. The head was revealed... and it was Rod, John Tartaglia's Avenue Q character turned frequent alter ego.
Later in the show, John appeared as the body, holding the puppet and asking Pippin if he could "put him back on my shoulders," less a reference to a severed head than his puppeteering past.

The guy playing the 'head' was standing in our pit on a ladder, and there was a hole in the stage that opened and closed, so he just kinda stuck his head in there. haha

Hey thanks for fresh things right here! By the way I wanted to ask about materials. From in which are you finding these strategies?
