Post any and all OUAM bloopers here.

BLOOPERS

During the scene with the tents, the Jester was standing right in front of one. The crew apparently had not set it up properly and it feel flat on the Jester. He wasn't hurt (it was just cloth on a frame), thankfully. He wriggled out of it and the audience laughed their heads off.

Later when the King pantomimes "trap" and the Jester says, "Set a trap?" he kicked the tent, since it had been a trap on him. :P After that our Minstrel just had to say, "Like that one?", pointing to the tent.

During one of the first scenes with the Minstrel and the Jester the lights came up as usual then went down for 10 seconds. They just kept on doing the scene.

When the Queen has the idea for the ball and she's talking to the Wizard, there is a drop behind them that the ensemble is behind, waiting for the drop to come up. The scene change hadn't completely happened (a table was still on) so the drop couldn't come up. The Queen had to improvise.

"And they're gonna dance...and they're gonna dance some more...and have SO much fun...and dance...and it's just gonna be so wonderful!"

One show the lights went down for about 15 seconds during Shy and the only light source was the spot on Fred.

PRANKS

On our last show, since I was the shortest Knight, our Dauntless had the idea to take me outta the Mattress at the end (along with all the other pointy objects).

So...someone pulled me out of the Mattress! The crowd just loved it!

Well, we were going to use dry ice in the Wizard scene and in the bedroom scene. But as soon as they got the cauldron of dry ice offstage after the first scene, they spilled it. So we never got any dry ice for the bed scene.

After Swamps of Home, during the black-out, Fred's new dress got forgotten on the floor as it fell off the table and was left there when the lights came up. I was on during the new scene and there was no way I could get over to the other side of the stage to kick it off. The director sent some girl onstage to grab it.

Fred's mic died suddenly for about 30 seconds during Shy.

Two hours before show, I went to put on my dress and I zipped it up and started to walk out of the bathroom where I was changing since we don't have dressing rooms and saw my reflection in the mirror. The zipper was broken! I had to go track down my director/costume mistress and show her. Then, we had to find a new dress. We did, thank god, quickly. It was super pretty too. The one downside was the hem was very constricting and went about a foot which wasn't good considering I was one of the main dancers and had praticed all my steps with a full skirt

Before our props were done, we had done "Fred" using a broom for the weight. One night, the director had taken the weights home to fix them, and forgot to take them out of his car. My dance partner was supposed to be the one to go offstage and drag the weight on, but since it wasn't there, I told him to grab the broom from backstage instead. He did, and Dauntless and Fred totally played it off and it was really funny.

So we had twins in our show and they are like in 6th grade....so closing night we ended up pulling them out of the mattress and the had feathers all over them...It was so funny
along with that we pulled out the weight winnifred lifts and the minstrel and jester lifted it easy but the knights had trouble getting it offstage lol

The kissing scene right before happily ever after was hillarious and i kept getting cat calls even though i kissed her on the forehead....it was funny cause we made it serious and we were going in for a kiss and i stand on my tip toes and kiss her...not really a blooper or prank but i thought it was funny

It was the 3rd night and i had two amazing nights with man to man talk....but that night me and the king forgot a part of the song and it was like the scariest thing ive ever done....but we pulled it off and people who have never seen the show thought it was intended. WHEW haha

Also the 2nd night our sound people werent doing amazingly and left my mic on during intermission....i went two minutes without knowing...

That same night right before song of love when i say "hey i think you're wonderful" someones mic was on and they were talking about being hit upside the head by the queens robe...i didnt laugh and the scene went on but yeah...:/

Otherwise our show went amazing and people loved it....so many people came up to me and told me i did a phenomenal job. I was happy

Song of Love...poor Dauntless skipped a verse. If there's one thing you should know about that song, it's that once you mess one thing up, the whole thing's messed up. I felt so bad for the kid.

Also, for our brush-up (aka prank rehearsal) we played the whole show with the sub-plot that Dauntless was secretly gay. (He "came out" at the end of act one..."I'm in love with a boy", "He's in love with a boy named M-I-K-E, Miiiiikkeeee!" Mike was one of our dancers.)

We only had one prank, and it was on closing night. For "Song of Love", all the ensemble had pom-poms and we would spell out "FRED" using the pom-poms. Well, just as the lights were going down to end Act I, we all threw our pom-poms at Dauntless (don't worry, nobody got hurt :P ).

During last Sunday's performance, the pianist was experiencing food poisoning. She had to run to the bathrooms and missed the entire first half of "Shy." It was very disconcerting, and all the actors thought was that Fred had missed her cue. Everyone saying full tilt, though, and the audience didn't miss a thing.

Also, Harry came on stage with the wizard's voodoo doll stuck to his sword (the wizard has a really cute voodoo doll of the queen that he sticks with needles every once in a while). The Stage Manager was offstage, on his hands and knees, for the chance to snag it whenever Harry walked over to that part of the stage, but Harry was never close enough. Harry ws dumbfounded why the audience was laughing at him.

Once, my Fred's dress went missing at some point between "Shy" and "Swamps of Home." We did the first part of the scene without it, but obviously it has to be there when Larken comes in. As soon as I left the stage, I started searching for it, eventually found it, and put it onstage just in time. This was six years ago, so I don't remember exactly how I slipped it in, but I remember Larken was giving her speech and playing it off just fine, but I could see those eyes darting around looking for the dress before I got it out there just as she was saying "You can't possibly clean the floor with such a tiny patch!"

so i go to a catholic school. we had a fun time with mattress..soeme funny stuff that happened was:

1) when larkin tells harry she's pregnant. the king was sunbathing on the wall to the moat where fred comes out of a few scenes later. when she says "i'm going to have a baby" harry's jaw dropped and the king fell backwards into the moat.

2) one of the girls in our show was cast as an elderly wizard in training (added part) when everyone was stopping fred from elaving. she used her walker to run over the jester.. it was hilarious.

3) at the end.. we pulled everything out of the mattress.. then as we're singint hte finale.. one of our stage managers dressed as a nun crawled out of the bed bottom and looked around, disgruntled, and then began to pray...the crowd was explosive! haha

4) when the queen is saying the sleep spell. the ladies in waiting started singing "mr sandman"

5) we sewed a bird onto Sir Harry's costume, and he told me( i played larken) that he didn't realize why it was there until dress rehearsal.

6) though it was not originally blocked in our script, harry and i decided that the show should not end with a hug between harry and larken. so we improvised a kiss into it...our director was thrilled haha.

7) when the king is telling jester and minstrel about larkin's dilemma; our jester had a lot of fun yanking the kings chain with guessing the words.

Our last show, the cast did some stuff that was entertaining...

Not that original, but they had one of the stage hands dress up in an extra princess costume with a big sign that said "princess #11" and pulled her out of the mattress in the finale.

During the scene where Aggravaine and Larken and Harry are arguing, our Wizard came on with a bag of popcorn and watched the argument like it was a tennis match.

Our Fred found plastic snakes and frogs, etc that she attached to her costume and hair for her big entrance from the moat.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but those were the three most memorable and easy to explain.

Blooper - our Dauntless mixed up two verses in song of love - threw everyone off :)

Oh, goodness - where do I start???

Our cauldron leaked dry ice onto the stage and part of it had to be replaced.

As Aggravain, I wore a giant peacock blue hoop skirt which was literally wider than the narrow doorways in the set. The set was built out of canvas on a plywood frame and mounted on wheels. It was extraordinarily lightweight and the slightest touch would send the set rolling off towards the wings. I had to enter and exit by grasping the wires in my skirt and bending them inwards while I stepped through the doorways.

One of our chorus girls accidentally kicked her shoe off while doing the can-can. It sailed through the air, executing a perfect loop-the-loop, and an audience member took a perfect catch over his head in the back row (it was a very intimate theatre).

As you probably know, the Minstrel begins the show with an opening monologue under a spotlight. Meanwhile, the royal court waits frozen in a tableau in the dark behind him, waiting for the rest of the lights to come up and the scene to begin. One night, all the lights snapped on during the monologue and we sat there, exposed under full lights and not moving, for several seconds before the lights snapped off again and everything continued as normal. At interval, we discovered that one of the buxom lighting operators had leaned forwards over the lighting board and ... well, look, Mum, no hands!

During the final scene on our final night, anything and everything backstage came out of the bed, including every prop in the wings, all the knights' helmets, the ladies in waiting, the director, large spears, several other cast members, lots of oversized codpieces and a large standard oscillating electric fan.

One night, the Minstrel appeared on stage in Act II unexpectedly wearing a purple beret and carrying a string bag over his shoulder containing a string of onions and a long breadstick. This represented quite a contrast with his usual costume. When, as Aggravain, I asked him who he was, instead of introducing himself as the Minstrel, he said (in the world's worst French accent), "'Ello! My name iz Jean-Claude, ze Minstrel's 'alf-bruzzer from Norrrmandy!"

Each night, Larkin's girls passed me the written incantations as they tried to sing me to sleep. Let's just say the incantations were written slightly differently every night. :)

Our Minstrel called our Wizard Dumbledore instead of Cardamon at our last show.
