There is a community theatre production of Oliver! this summer, with auditions this month. I'm hoping for a good part, but would like an opinion on anything I would be suited for. I'm thirteen, and will be a few weeks away from fourteen at the time of the show. I'm 5'1"-5'2", and tiny all around. I think I could play a boy, because as I said I'm tiny. I do have rather delicate, girlish facial features though. I'm a mezzo soprano with a vibrato, and my singing is fairly strong, with stronger acting. I was thinking Dodger or perhaps Oliver? Or Bet? Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks!

By age thirteen (almost fourteen, as you say), your facial features are probably going to be too feminine to play a thirteen year old boy. I think that you could have a lot of fun with Bet. In many ways she's a wide-open character, and you say that you're quite the actress. At the same time, she has a bit of singing where she gets to shine too. I say go for her!
